The VIP and Vanning scenes are integral parts of the Japanese tuning culture, styles that define the uniqueness of Japan. It might not be performance oriented but no matter what you are into, you just can't help but take an intrest in rides like this MJK Customs Celsior... ...sporting widened front and rear fenders and full original aero. The great thing about VIP is that over the years it has evolved and branched off in various directions spawning some pretty interesting variations on what is...

Let's continue right along with the SEMA coverage now. Given the massively diverse assortment of vehicles at the show, we'll continue splitting up the posts into various genres . This time we'll look at some of the luxury and VIP-inspired cars we've found around SEMA this year. So, is the Porsche Panamera a luxury car or a four-door sports car? It seems that most of the modified versions take the luxury route. There was an impressive number of VIP cars at this year's SEMA, spread...

With all the work Nakai-san at RWB has been doing lately, putting the final touches to " Number One " in the UK and now busy in Bangkok finishing up RWB Thailand's second creation, I thought it would be fitting to open up this third part to the Hellaflush Japan coverage with a shot of Great Hurricane . This is one of his last projects and looked sensational with its shark-like satin gray paint, sitting in the display area at Fuji Speedway. I'm very happy to see that what I have...

There is one final ride from the King of Sedan Festival that I want to share with you. Ever since seeing the drool-inducing line up of 326 Power cars at this year Nagoya Exotic Car Showdown I have really taken a liking to their way of doing things. I knew the Hiroshima-based shop specializes on both drift and VIP cars but I had yet to see what their bippu style consisted of. This customer-owned Mazda Sentia stood out quite evidently... ...running a very aggressive stance, lowered about an inch from...

Selecting a car to do a dedicated shoot on at the recent VIP meeting in Osaka proved to be one a hell of a tough decision. I knew it would have to combine the variety of styles that make up the modern day bippu scene but at the same time stay true to what defines such unmistakably JDM-tuned sedans. Pushing the boundaries is always important, but pushing them in a way that people take notice and respect what you have done is another thing all together. This is precisely what Mizuno-san, the owner...

To complete the wave of VIP style we have been riding on over the last week I prepped up some wallpaper from the King of Sedan Festival. You can head over to the desktop section and download any of these six images... ...in the usual widescreen or standard sizes. I've picked some of the coolest cars from the show like this green JZX90 MarkII... ...and of course the CSE F50 Cima suffering from an extreme case of onikyan ! I couldn't forget Bee Dragon's latest demo car either, a Y33 Cima...

Well the time has come to wrap up the coverage to this past Sunday's VIP event in Osaka, one that has seemed to generate an equal amount of good and bad feedback. I've put together this last selection of pictures starting off with the best executed F30 Celsior I saw on the day. Not much negative camber here, just flowing widened fenders and slammed air suspension. The Bee Dragon Crown Majesta continues to be one of the defining cars of the scene, sporting a look that manages to fuse a variety...

I'm happy some of you guys are feeling all this VIP coverage from the King of Sedan Festival. Like I mentioned in Part 1 , it's by far not a style that is appreciated by everyone out there, but it is part of the JDM car culture and we couldn't possibly ignore it. No matter how people enjoy their cars, it's the fact that they strive to perfect and personalize them in their own way that keeps any area of car culture alive. Take the slammed and oni- cambered F50 in the opening shot,...

At one point during the day, walking through the hundreds of slammed VIP rides at the King of Sedan Festival, I realized I had to start to be a little more selective as there was no way I would have had the time to shoot each and every one present. On top of hunting down as many controversial cars running onikyan (demon camber)... ...there were others out there that tried to attract attention in a variety of different ways, some... ...more extreme than others! This was one of only a few full-on bosozoku...

Time to dive right back into the massive VIP gathering I attended in Osaka this past Sunday and take a look at some other cool cars I came across. Starting off with this Lexus GS, slammed right on the ground and sporting a brake upgrade that wouldn't look out of place on a time attack car. I have to give it to the guys and gals that build these crazy machines, it's not easy to make your car stand out among a selection of 600+ of the best rides in the country. Take this S150 Crown Majesta...

It's our job here at Speedhunters to bring to you the variation of car cultures that make up the worldwide car scene. From various forms of motorsport to the countless ways in which people personalize their cars, there is so much to see out there it boggles the mind. There is no question Japan has so much to offer the car enthusiast, but there are some styles that are still not as well exposed as others. Living and spending most of my time in and around Tokyo there is one area of JDM car culture...

With VIP scene in the states now in full swing, VIP styled or influenced cars can be seen at almost any car meet, car show, or import related car gathering. By now, we've all seen our fair share of laid out VIP cars and also drift cars with VIP styling cues. Then there's this 2011 Lexus LS600hL, bathed in Macadamia Metallic custom paint, which was built by Guy De Alwis of VIP Auto Salon. It is a much cleaner and classier approach to the sometimes overly done automotive VIP styling. With VIP...

One of those styles that is slowly beginning to evolve in the UK is that of the VIP look. Although on the surface it may look simple enough (four door car, big wheels, slammed) there is actually quite a lot more to this than first meets the eye. The car is owned by Lam, a regular on Driftworks and VIP Style Cars. I've been watching this car come together for the last two years but when I accidentally stumbled upon it at Japfest, I think I had a crisis. Make no mistake, this car has some serious...

The primary image associated with Honda might be high revving compact cars and F1-derived race technology, but there are also some proper Honda VIP sedans out there. For example we have this KA9 Honda Legend out of Japan, also known as the Acura RL stateside. Compared to today's edgy Acura designs, the KA9 has a classic style that lends itself way to the VIP treatment just like its rivals from Nissan and Toyota. -Mike Garrett...

The JDM scene wouldn't be complete without two of the biggest style-driven movements to have evolved in the last twenty years. I am of course referring to VIP and Vanning, something that has began to get more international recognition and following. So let's take a look at some of the cars and vans that stood out the most, starting with the Junction Produce Century in the opening picture. Taketomi-san of Junction Produce is pretty much the man that began and pushed the bippu style (VIP pronounced...

I was pretty surprised seeing this picture because it isn't from the US but it came from Japan. It looks like such a good platform and I'm sure the prices are dropping seeing as it was made until 2004. I think this car was shot for the Japanese VIP CAR magazine. So what do you think about the fact the Japanese tuners are broadening their horizons and looking for other platforms outside the JDM market? -Jeroen Willemsen

While browsing through several forums I came across this Chrysler 300C. In Europe we are used to small cars so you can spot these cars very easily on the highway. I have always liked the original look of the 300C, but when you dip it in a VIP cocktail it can look like this. The wheels are VIP Modular VR10s in a massive 22" with a 5" lip in the front and a 6.5" lip in the rear. The owner is busy doing a complete makeover with a new set of wheels, so I can't wait to see what he has...

The owner of this car proves that your car doesn't need to be black to be considered VIP. I love how the paint of the car contrasts with the carbon hood. Normally I'm not a fan of leaving the hood unpainted but somehow it works perfectly on this UCF31 Celsior. Spotted on VIPCAR

A Lexus LS430 like this would be right at home in any wicked gang-banger, gun-toting computer game, but for lucky owner Jun Lu this car's sultry good looks is actually his reality up and down his local Texan streets. Bad ass! That's the only way to describe it, really. Up close with eyes closed, the burbling 4.3-litre V8 under the bonnet goes some way to allude to the intoxicating villany that stands before you, which then makes itself apparent as you slowly raise your eyebrows to visually...
