We seem to be doing quite a bit of actual speedhunting this month. We already looked at the newest standing mile event, the Mojave Mile. Later this month we will be be in attendance at the Texas Mile. But forget all that for now, the standing mile record for the fastest production car was broken this past weekend in Florida at the Top Gear Run event. The Performance Power Racing Ford GT passed the mile marker at a blistering 252.97 miles per hour! This twin turbo Ford GT did this feat with an estimated 1800 wheel horsepower and an estimated 1475 wheel torque. Mind. Blown.
Check out the video and witness the insane second gear pull and the car wheel spinning all the way to fifth.

As John Brook and I prepare to leave for the 12 Hours of Sebring, racing teams are releasing films as they build up to the event next week. We've previously seen BMW Motorsport North America's film. Here's their direct competitor, Corvette Racing's, take on the upcoming twelve hour spectacle. I cannot wait to hear and feel their new 5.5L V8 in action. I'm sure it's going to hurt even more so than last year's....

Andrew from Jet Multimedia in Australia, just sent me a link to this video. Its a chapter out of a new DVD project called DRIFTERS UNLEASHED.
Drifters Unleashed is exactly that. The film producers took Australia's best drifters away from the stress and restriction of professional competition and let the drive they way they¹ve always wanted to, with no rules and no limits. They hired a track and let the drifters loose on a variety of custom-built courses designed for maximum action with not a single official or judge in sight.

The new Hot version Volume 103 just hit the shelves and is a must see for all you GT-R enthusiasts out there. It features the Mine's R34 against the MCR R35, Esprit R35 and the Garage Yawata R35. The drivers are Keiichi, Nobuteru, Orido and ‘Tarzan' Yamada in the R34. It amazes me to see how these guys push their cars to the absolute limit.
I wonder how many of you guys guessed the right outcome before seeing the video.

We can talk all day about numbers and sub-minute laps around Tsukuba. But actually seeing how fast a fast lap looks like from the driver's seat really puts things into perspective. This is Hiro behind the wheel of his Exceed Moat 07B S14 at Tsukuba managing a 58"540 lap and hitting a top speed of 212 km/h on the back straight. Check out the cool Racepack IQ3 data logger display, I'm pretty sure I saw 1.7 G in one of the corners!

Will Roegge and Joshua Herron, film makers who have made their name documenting the art of sideways, have just announced their first collaboration project together. It will be a DVD entitled "Keep Drifting Fun!" The description on their website explains what this project will be:
"In 2010, FIlmmakers Joshua Herron & Will Roegge will set out across the USA to shoot their first feature-length film. The film will document the US Grassroots Drift Scene.
They will live in a Van.
Eating mostly peanut butter."
Excitement is an understatement for how I feel about this project. Best of luck Will Roegge and Joshua Herron!
