Those of you who are "friends" with me on Facebook will know that last week Speedhunter's editor Riley Vigier and I were crunching to finishing up two videos for the 2009 SEMA Show. You've already seen our tribute to the new Formula D champion Chris Forsberg, and here's our second year end video offering: Falkenhunting 2009. A new Speedhunters film which debuted at Falken's SEMA booth on Tuesday. It covers our season long collaboration with the Team Falken drift family....

We just did a premiere of this film to a packed house at the Formula D/Spo Com party in Las Vegas. It's a little tribute to the new Formula Drift 2009 Champion Chris Forsberg. Entitled "Portrait of a Champion" , it's a collaboration with the drifting film-maker of film-makers Will Roegge. ... And i suppose myself and Speedhunters' editor, Riley Vigier also had something to do with this film too.... We hope you like it! I also need to thank Ernie and Tutul from Nos Energy Drink...

This Speedhunters film is going to be my final contribution to the Driver's Month special features.
It's a quick portrait of the multiple World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx.
Shot last month at the Imola round of the WTTC, we've done our best to capture the essence of Touring Car racing. The intensity, the aggressive driving and the on track dramatics.
Thanks Andy Priaulx for taking the time to talk to us. Enjoy the film!

You know, not just anyone can show up with a stack of video cameras to an American Le Mans race expecting to be allowed to shoot footage. If you are a professional photographer, then you might be allowed trackside access to shoot photos, but permission to shoot video is a whole other matter and often requires a week of negotiations and conference calls. On top of this, not just anyone would be able to convince BMW to mount video cameras all over brand new race car -- and even onto the driver! The...

We thought it would be a fitting closure to our special August Speed theme to release a new Will Roegge film. Entitled "Four Hundred", it's a quick snapshot of the Nish Land Speed Record team and their Royal Purple Streamliner. The film also brings you a little closer to the experience of Bonneville... ... and allows you to ride along with the Speedhunters team as we set about shooting at the event. We hope you enjoy this new film and the exclusive access we arranged with Nish Motorsports...

Chris Rado's Scion tC certainly has a lot of people talking this year... Whether it's discussions about the functionality and aesthetics of the fwing, or stories about him lighting up his front wheels in 6th gear on the straight at Nashville, this machine certainly has raised some eyebrows. It's also the most extreme and powerful front wheel drive time attack car on the planet. Chris seems rather happy to have gobs of power under his right foot... it's said that the Scion now has...

Ever wonder what it would be like to ride along with Vaughn Gittin JR in his 2010 Falken Tire Mustang, during Formula D practice? Or better yet... what would it be like to drive his car in a tandem battle against Darren McNamara, at Road Atlanta? With this Speedhunters extended remix of the JR Need for Speed Driver's Experience film we've dumped the cinematic art montages and have gone for a pure visceral experience. It's the opposite effect to the kind of video we've made for the...

Hot on the heals of Will Roegge's new Speedhunters All Star Bash video, we're proud to bring you a second Willow Springs video. This time it's grip action from the Red Line Time Attack event from a few months back. This is the footage we shot while making the Chris Rado Driver's Experience Film .... it seemed a shame to not put together a montage video. As the Speedhunters audience is from all corners of the globe and a good portion of you may never set foot in California, we figured...

Yo. My name is Will Roegge and I'm a 25 year old filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. Rod and I have been trying to collaborate on a Speedhunter's project for the past year and July's All Star Bash looked to be a great opportunity to do an exclusive Speedhunter's video. Ziptied/Just Drift's All Star Bash has become quite a phenomenon within the US drift community. Drivers and cars came from places near and far to take part in the event. Including this dark red Nissan 240sx...

The fourth Driver's Experience film was originally going to be shot at the Nurburgring 24Hs with the NFS Speedhunters Porsche Carrera Cup car but due to some scheduling and production problems we had to very quickly find another driver, racing team and race series to work with. A phone call to the Speedhunter John Brooks netted the suggestion for us to work with Andrea Bertolini, Maserati, Vitaphone Racing and the FIA GT race series. We then had to pour all of our efforts into attaining permission...

Ok let's jump out of the BMW and the Scion into quite a different car now.... the Falken Tire 2010 Ford Mustang as driven by Mr Vaughn Gittin Jr... A young man who needs no introduction. As we virtually ride along with each of these drivers, I'm sure you'll pick up the vibe that drifting the Mustang appears to be a very different discipline to the grip action we previously featured with Milner and Rado. Rather than an all out pursuit of speed, Gittin is pushing himself and his machine...

If Tommy Milner is racing driver as machine-introvert then Chris Rado is the opposite: he's all heart and soul. His whole approach to living is quite unlike anyone I've ever met to be honest. This is a guy who lives for speed and excitement... in all aspects of his life. It's no wonder that he's starting practicing yoga... he needs to, otherwise he's likely to self destruct from all the wildness rattling around inside of his soul. During the creation process of each video, we...

Ever wonder what it's like to drive a full race spec GT car around the streets of Long Beach? Well now is your chance to jump into this experience. Most of you will recall that we spent the weekend of the Long Beach Grand Prix this past May attaching all manner of cameras to one of the Rahal Letterman Racing BMW M3 GT2s and its driver Tommy Milner. Our goal was to make a film that puts you in the hot seat of this fantastic race car, to replicate the experience of being Tommy Milner. This film...

As someone who spends most of his time working with different types of creative people, I do enjoy getting involved with young, talented artists in order to help them get their careers going. I'm in the unique position of being to help creative people from time to time and see this as an opportunity to give back to the world and pay off some karmic debts, if that makes sense. So last month, the option came up for us to take drift film-maker Will Roegge to a FIA GT Race in Italy. I was pretty...

When we launched Speedhunters.com just over a year ago we had two types of videos in production: Slo-Mo Moments and Car Tours. This worked well for a while, but soon it became time to switch things up. We moved on to creating Montage Videos which set racing action against scored music beds. This again was a good thing as we ended up making some pretty cool videos last year especially our Ebisu Drift , MSC , Team Orange and the Spa FIA GT Videos. This particular video started out as a Long Beach Formula...

It's been a while since we released a Speedhunters video I know.... but after a few delays, the production of a whole new set of videos is now under way! This particular video was shot at Ebisu Circuit last August... we had just finished filming the Team Orange Triple Drift film but I had one more shot I wanted to get done. So I asked Kumakubo if he could mangji drift directly towards me..... And then circle the camera, before manji-ing again all the way down the straight.... "No problem...

As we look forward into the launch of the new 2009 Formula Drift season, we thought it would be cool to release a video shot at the last round of the 2008 season. This is a little bit of a different take on a drifting film..... It's shot from the point of view of one of the Need for Speed girls, Michelle Cifuentes , as she watches the qualifying sessions at Irwindale Formula Drift.... This video is the last film you'll see from us for a while.... we've finally exhausted all our footage...

You know, I've been going to race tracks all my life, but I've never, ever seen anything like Ebisu Circuit. Set into the hills of the Fukushima District in Japan, it's a series of 8 tracks, each specifically designed for drifting. What a thought! What is even more amazing to me, is the automotive culture that surrounds the track complex. On any given weekend you'll find scores of street drift cars on the various circuits; people travel from all over the country to practice their...

I'm not sure how many people are currently aware, the motorsport of drifting just took at step forward this past weekend. The reigning Formula Drift Champion, Tanner Foust represented the sport at the Race of Champions in Wembley Stadium and showed reasonably well for himself. The racing establishment is now aware there is something new on the horizon and it's called drifting. The future looks very bright for drifting: the motorsport.
This is of course very exciting for people like me who follow the ebbs and flows of international drifting quite closely, but at the same time I feel it is important that we never forget where drifting came from. Remember drifting is not only a motorsport, it is also an automotive culture. This film is my humble attempt to showcase the true essence of drift culture....

There are no words that can really describe just how quick the Super GT Nissan GTR is...... This simply is THE fastest GT style race car in the world today. Nothing else comes close. Presented by Nismo engineer Ricardo Divila, this is a rare look into the exclusive world of top level Japanese motorsports. It took us a long time, and much negotiating to get access to this car. Many thanks to Nissan (thanks Toru!) and the Nismo team for their hospitality at the Suzuka 1000 kms. I also need to thank...
