World Time Attack Challenge saw some of the greatest time attack machines arrive on Australian shores to do battle. And next year's event - which will take place at Eastern Creek on 10-11th August - promises to be just as enticing. Work has already begun on WTAC 2012, with the organisers flying to Japan to open discussions with the various teams. Question is, who would you like to see at next year's event?

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get invited to a private test session featuring some of Australia's fastest cars, which are being prepared for this year's World Time Attack Challenge. Charles and myself have been closely monitoring the cars that are being built for this year's competition... ...With one of them being Mark Hansen's R35 GT-R. You may remember us featuring the car late last year or if that doesn't spark your memory, this might. It was great to catch up with Mark...

The World Time Attack Challenge is returning to Sydney, Australia, and we're certainly expecting an impressive line-up of cars from around the world this time around. Here's their teaser for what you can expect to see at Eastern Creek Raceway. One of the new additions for 2011 is the International Drift Challenge, which will be held at night after the time attack action. Already confirmed for this year's event are the Cyber EVO, Scorch S15 and Mad Mike's RX-7.

September’s Theme for Modified Magazine is all about Australia and the World Time Attack Challenge. I’m not going to get into too much detail about the event since most of you have already read about the results on here. However, if you are looking for complete coverage of how everything unfolded then I highly recommend this issue. We also looked past the pro cars and have coverage of the other classes that ran during the event. We couldn’t leave out the privateers, after all, those...

Sydney Australia was the BEST!! The first event of the trip, right in downtown Sydney. But I am really sleepy today. I thought I’d just take a photo for my own website. The CyberEVO is good today, nice and fast. The cars speed is good. You can see me having a meeting with Mr. Ogikubo, our team manager from Carrosser (CUSCO...

I thought I'd pass along a few high rez desktop photos from last weekend's World Time Attack Challenge. The event was not without some flaws, but still was a great first effort for the organizers. So enjoy this set of desktop images. They include this machine fetish shot of the R Magic FD. And this cool image of the hi Octane R34 engaging in a bit of gamesmanship with the Pan Speed RX7. They were chasing each other around for a few laps like this. Perhaps the Mazda was looking for a tow down...

Being that I'm from the Northern Hemisphere I'm normally associate this time of the year with the start of summer and definitely not the start of winter! I am sitting here freezing my butt off in my little holiday apartment in Nelson New Zealand as I type this... Well at least my hands are warm from my laptop here! Right, so what were we talking about and why am I still working on Speedhunters stories anyway? I'm supposed to be on vacation! Hmmm... Well, I just feel it's my duty to...

Well I'm back in Japan after what was whirlwind visit to Australia last week and now that Rod, Casey and I have had a chance to go through more of our pictures from the World Time Attack Challenge it's time to dive in deeper into some additional coverage from what turned out to be a really exciting event. On top of the top level "Pro" class everyone was out to see there were of course a ton of equally impressively built track cars at Eastern Creek and throughout most of the event...

Hi all... well I'm back in New Zealand now after a whirlwind seven days in and around the Sydney area of Australia. The highlight of the trip was of course the Time Attack World Challenge and we were treated to an epic battle between the likes of the Sierra Sierra Evo, the Tomei Cusco Voltex Impreza and the Cyber Evo. I personally feel quite grateful to have been in a position to attend this groundbreaking and ambitious event. But before I get into the details of my time at Eastern Creek Raceway...

Anything could have happened today at the World Time Attack Challenge in Eastern Creek Raceway. The top cars were very evenly matched but it was the Cyber Evo/Garage HRS team that came away victorious. After spending most of yesterday fitting a new engine they were back in top form this morning allowing Tarzan to get to business right away with a fastest lap of 1:30:587. Tarzan was a very happy man!! It was great to see that two out of the four Japanese teams that made it to the event were on the...

Tarzan has done it again, the time of the Cyber Evo/Garage HRS has come down to an astonishingly impressive 1:30.587. The pressure is on for the other teams and we just heard the Sierra Sierra Evo has blown a head gasket so they are now trying to get fixed before the next session in the afternoon. -Dino Dalle Carbonare

Have any of you read "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi? He's the world's most famous historical Samurai warrior, who expounded the sword fighting technique of "the single blow" ... Meaning that you kill your opponent with one sword strike. Draw Sword, Strike, Kill. Well, I'm sure that Tarzan Yamada must have some real samurai fighting spirit inside him as he completely decimated the competition this morning! During the first session at the final day of the...

It was all about tenths today at Eastern Creek Raceway. Seeing the best Time Attack cars in the world in action was in itself an impressive spectacle but the real surprise came when everyone realized just how evenly matched the top cars really are. The Sierra Sierra Evo, driven by David Empringham took top spot by recording a 1:32:248 with... ...Sasaki-san from Panspeed, seen here ready to head out of the pits, grabbing second position with a 1:32:454, just two tenths behind. The Panspeed RX-7 managed...

The Panspeed RX7 has now moved within firing range of the Sierra Sierra Evo and taken over second position with a time of 1:32.454. This pushes the Tomei Cusco Impreza down to third. :R

I find it pretty amazing that you can jump on an airplane, fly to the other side of the planet, drive out to an unfamiliar race track, arrive and be among friends and collaborators. I'm here at the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia, yet being at this race track feels like home in many respects. It seems like the more motorsports events I go to, the smaller this little automotive industry gets and the more car people I get to connect with. On our trip to Sydney we've had the chance...

Excitement is quickly brewing for the start of the World Time Attack Challenge and today the Speedhunters crew was out in full force at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway taking a look behind the scenes, as teams got ready for what is the Time Attack event of the year. We met up early in the morning with Casey Dhnaram and Matthew Mead who will be shooting at the track along with Rod and I. I probably found myself approaching the pits in a completely opposite fashion to most people that will come...

The start of the Time Attack event of the year is just around the corner and to kick off the excitement the center of Sydney's business district was invaded by two very special cars this morning. The Panspeed RX-7 and the Tomei/Cusco/Voltex Impreza of Team Tarzan, which have been in Australia for only a few days, were shown off to the citizens of the busy city. Media, as well as a TV news crew for a local channel, were there to see these powerful track prepared beasts in this very unusual setting...
