What an amazing 2010 season! I learned so much in the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX-8 this year and enjoyed every moment from getting behind the wheel of the drift vehicle to interacting with all of the dedicated fans. Here is the man, team manager Ron Bergenholtz plotting out his day while relaxing on the KW Suspension chair. He was up all night making sure the Mazda is at its prestige condition. Although the RX-8 didn’t have any issues he made sure every piece on the car is at 100% ready...

Joon Maeng is a driver that really needs no introduction. He has a nickname of Joon "Gentle" Maeng for a reason. When you meet him and get the chance to have a chat to him (which he's more than happy to do even if that means he'll be a bit late to practice or qualifting...), you'll find out that he's quite literally the nicest person you'll ever meet. But there's a bit of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydeness from his out-of-car personality and his in-car personality. He's...

Good day Speedhunters and fans! Thank you, again, for taking the time to read what unfolded for me at Formula Drift Championship Round 5 at Las Vegas Speedway. Team Bergenholtz arrived in Las Vegas on Thursday morning, August 19th, and, as expected, the temperature read above 100°F. To prevent heat exhaustion, the team installed misters and prepared swamp coolers in the pit area. I expected to pant like a dog throughout the event but, because of those misters and swamp coolers, I was unfazed...

High 5 Speedhunters fans! Thank you very much for logging in and taking the time to read how it’s like to live the dream as a drifter! Now, being part of Bergenholtz Racing, it’s like icing on the cake because the team is exceptional and the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX-8 is phenomenal! Being that it’s my favorite track, I’ve always enjoyed Evergreen Speedway. But this time around, it’s not only the track that is memorable, but also the surprise birthday celebration...

Hello Speed Hunters fans! I hope that you have been well and healthy. Formula Drift Round 3 at Wall Speedway in New Jersey was full of awesome fans, nice humidity, and tire smoke all the way around! Unfortunately, my battle to the top ended prematurely so I wasn’t able to participate in the main event...

Good day Speed Hunters, fans and supporters! I started Formula Drift Round 2 in Road Atlanta by having breakfast with the team and taking my vitamins in preparation for a fun-filled day. Ed Bergenholtz (in the passenger seat) had connected his laptop to the Motec M800 and made sure that the Full Tilt Poker Nitto Tire Mazda RX-8 was running nothing short of strong after my first pass during the practice session. During the drivers' meeting, I carefully listened to what Formula Drift staffs and...

First of all, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart Speedhunters and the fans for this opportunity to share my experience at Formula Drift Round 1! I greatly appreciate your support! The Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX-8 feels amazing and Bergenholtz Racing did a phenomenal job in building this powerful Tri Rotary beast! It’s my first time engaging with a 600 horsepower vehicle with a HKS sequential transmission. How the vehicle reacts during initiation, transition, and throttle...

The Bergenholtz Racing RX8 is not only getting a new driver for the 2010 Formula Drift season, but a new sponsor and an exterior makeover. The car was unveiled this morning, as new driver Joon Maeng serenaded the streets of downtown Long Beach to the sounds of race-tuned rotary....

I just got back from the Formula Drift offices in downtown Long Beach where Bergenholtz Racing announced the new driver of their Mazda RX8 for the 2010 Formula Drift season. I arrived at the office to find some of my fellow media guys anticipating the big news. Who would be replacing Justin Pawlak in the Bergenholtz RX8 this year? ...

Well here’s my first blog on Speedhunters. Our beloved CRX was just inducted into the NHRA museum and it is quite an honor. Thank you to Tony Thacker and the NHRA for recognizing our efforts in Sport Compact Drag Racing. Tony Thacker created a display in the west wing of the museum entitled “The Two Brothers Exhibit”. There is another two-brother racecar right next to the CRX from the 40’s and 50’s that did innovative things with a racecar in the salt-flats....

So that's why there was a big cloud of smoke coming from the oval course at Willow Springs this weekend.

The new car looks and sounds awesome. Can't wait to see how JTP does with the RX8 this weekend in Jersey.

For some reason, people have a tendency to underestimate Bergenholtz Racing. That's a mistake. Big mistake. Bergenholtz Racing was the most successful privateer drag racing team in the NHRA Sport Compact Series, using unrelenting determination and ingenuity to clown the big dollar budget of GM over and over and over again. Don't believe it? There's a display case full of Wallies (the coveted NHRA Wally Parks trophy) at Ron Bergenholtz's Orange County home to prove it. Ron B and the...

I've been reading about the legendary Bergenholtz brothers in magazines since something like 1996 or 1997. Do the math... that was over 10 years ago! When I think about those days, which some consider to be "the glory days" of import drag racing and car shows in the USA, it trips me out. I can't believe it was so long ago; 10 years sounds like such a long period of time. Then again, 10 years isn't that long, when you put it in context with the grand scheme of motorsports in...
