Those of you who are following the progress on the Team NFS Mustang RTR-X build may be interested to learn a bit more about the company that did up the custom front sub-frame for us: Art Morrison Enterprises . Any readers of Hot Rod magazine will of course recognize the Art Morrison name as being top dog in the aftermarket chassis industry for muscle cars and classics. Some of their aftermarket chassis are designed to bolt straight into popular body types like this 1954 Chevy. You then choose the...

If you've read the first part to this story you will have an idea of how much these guys are into cars. Obviously as a business they need to turn a profit but you get the feeling when touring the KW factory that everything is secondary to customer satisfaction and creating the absolute best product. Everybody we met on our visit were all true petrolheads, guys and girls that were genuinely interested in all aspects of motoring. When they talk about their products they always speak about how the...

Following a simply epic weekend at the Nordschleife our hosts whisked us away to a small village in the German countryside called Fichtenberg. Fichtenberg is the home to KW Suspension, probably one of the most reknowned suspension manufacturers and developers in the motorsport world. As an example aided by KW's expertise, Team Manthey cruised to four successive 24HR Nurburgring victories with their 997 Porsche. Before I met any of the KW guys, I imagined them as a big, faceless corporation and...

Ever since I saw Rod's feature on the Dandy FC3S during the Bonneville Speed week I have been meaning to drop by their shop to check out not only the RX-7 but also meet the man behind it all, Dandy Tanaka. Kindly enough Tsuyoshi Narita, a customer and follower of Dandy kindly arranged my visit during a rather warm winter Saturday afternoon. It never fails to amaze me the location of some of the shops and garages I get to visit here in Japan. You can forget those massive industrial estates a lot...

Did any of you watch the F1 race today? I'm a bit irritated to be honest, as I think the new "no refueling" rules have really spoiled the show and made F1 even more processional than it already was. Ergh DISAPOINTED!!!... Anyway moving on, I wanted to share some photos with you that I took a few weeks back in the UK. All of you now know that the Top Secret Drag R II Skyline R33 is alive and well in the UK with its current caretakers: G Man and the Skyline specialist shop: TR Racing...

Sometimes you have good days. And then there are great days. Having taken in the impressive JR Motosport/Sumo Power factory in Rye, Rod and I had one more treat in store courtesy of Sumo Power boss Andy Barnes. We drove out to JRM's separate storage facility in my car; starting up my Alfa GTV, Andy asked if it was a diesel... rather embarrassed I had to say: "uh, no it's a 3L V6..." Okay. I think I need to get a service. Or a new car. When we arrived, I started unpacking my gear...

While I have your attention, with my recent feature on the Ferrambo, I'm also going to take you for a quick tour of the shop which built this oddball contraption: Divers Street Rods. Although these photos were shot last summer, I'm sure you'll find it interesting to see what wild creations Divers will be unleashing into the hot rod show car world in the next year or so. Most race shops and car builders operate out of anonymous industrial estates, but not so with Divers Street Rods. Their...

Last month I took a quick trip to Los Angeles in order to attend the Mooneyes Xmas Party. I knew this was a chance to see the burgeoning traditional rod and custom scene up close and personal for the first time. I also wanted to try to find a LA based hot rod shop to shoot, so dropped an email to the director of the NHRA museum, Tony Thacker.
He recommended that I visit the Walden Speed Shop in Pomona; an outfit known for their expert metalwork and traditional styles.
