Let's start with part two of my coverage of the Streetpower event at Zandvoort. I couldn't resist starting with the Bonder E36 by DBM Engineering. It certainly is one of the most extreme BMW's I have seen in a while. It even managed to set the second fastest time of the day with 1:50.063. Here's another car built and maintained by the guys from Jeroentje.nl . This time a R33 GTS-T with a RB25 engine that has been rated around 325bhp. It seems like fluorescent colors were hot during...

When living so close to ‘The Ring' you sometimes feel spoiled as the high performance cars you'll encounter at the track become normal. For example, Porsche 911 GT3s are nothing special to see when Speedhunting at the Nordeschliefe. So you start searching for cars that are less obvious to satisfy your car craving. On my last visit I spotted this BMW E36 touring which certainly grabbed my attention. It has been painted in Porsche green, the same color you can find on the GT3 RS version...

It seems like the current November "Slammed Month" theme has divided the Speedhunters audience up into two polarized camps. Some of you hold fast to the premise: Form Follows Function and that all upgrades and alterations to a car should be in the pursuit of handing and speed... or at least gives the appearance of this. Others prefer to weigh visual style over performance and are more about show than go . You like cars which place a greater value on aesthetic impact over easy functionality...

Now for my second installment I wanted to take a closer look at the track itself and tell you my experience driving shotgun with Stephane. The car we drove in was this immaculate late '97 E36 M3. It is a 3.2 evolution model in a rare alpine white color. I have noticed that this car is a lot of fun on the track especially with a few selected upgrades. The engine itself is pretty much standard except for a cold air intake system, the emphasis on this car has been the handling characteristics. It...

As Speedhunters' BMW month finishes up we have one more Stanceworks BMW to showcase, and one look at the car will tell you why we saved it for last....

We still have a couple Stanceworks car to showcase before BMW month is over, with one of them being this E21 320i owned by Nic Foster of Tuscon AZ. One thing I've noticed about the Stanceworks crew is that these guys come from all over the United States instead of just one region. It's always nice to see long distance camaraderie in the car world!...

Over the past few weeks we've been in touch with Mike Burroughs of Stanceworks.com. If you'll remember, he's the one that made the cross country road trip from Tennesee to California in his rat style E28 last month. Mike has been nice enough to supply us with photos of some the Stanceworks BMW's, including the '96 328i sedan you see above....

The long history of BMW is filled with iconic models, but none of them are as influential as the 3-series. For over 30-years the 3-series has been a favorite of everyone from executives to weekend racers to housewives, and has long stood atop the sport sedan market on all corners of the globe. As part of our special BMW features this month, a look back at history this iconic model is in order....

This clean E36 3-series wagon belongs to none other than 2008 EDC champion and UK drifting veteran Ben Broke-Smith, AKA Bon Bon. When he's not out sliding around in his Chaser or R32 Skyline, Ben can be found cruising around in this. Underneath the wagon body is essentially a full track day-spec M3.
The only thing better than being able to rip around in a nicely tuned M3 is being able to do so with a bunch of your buddies and their gear inside.

I sit in an area of the huge EA Canada complex in Burnaby, B.C. Canada, right next to the Need for Speed marketing team. For the past two days they've been buzzing with all the great reviews that are coming in for SHIFT . It's no surprise to me, though... I mean just look at that image!... It looks completely real!... and the racing experience is just as refined as the realistic looks. So for my next game session, I thought to focus on building up two BMWs and take them out for spin on the...

Over the past couple days our inbox has been flooded with emails from a group of Maryland enthusiasts showing off their distinctive take on BMW style. This E36 328i sedan is owned by a BMW tech named Aries Ramirez, and if it looks dirty that's because it is. "This machine was never built to look pretty. As a matter of fact it was barely washed" , says the email. Hmmm... reminds of me what Rauh Welt Nakai said about the "beauty" of an unwashed car. ...

Here's another 1JZ-powered E36, this one built by several years ago by Impact Magic in Osaka, Japan. It's not as extreme as some of the builds out there today, but I remember being blown away when I saw this car in Option Magazine back then. With a twin turbo inline six, I guess you can consider it a homebuilt predecessor to the current 335i.
Besides this Toyota-powered 318is, you might also remember the black E36 that these guys built with a Honda F20C under the hood.

The other day I showed you a random snap of an E46 M3 convertible from the East Coast's Digitul Heaven group. Coming from the same group is this two door E36 M3 owned by Edward Chen of Potomac, Maryland. Like the E46, this Estoril Blue M3 was originally built for winding road fun, but Edward has since become interested in taking his BMW out drifting....

Here's another reader's ride for you guys. This E36 M3 is owned by Arlo Vidts of Ghent, Belgium and is equipped with BBS CH wheels, AP Brakes, KW V2 coilovers, and a SuperSprint exhaust among other things. If that wasn't enough, Arlo's daily driver is a built E30 M3, which he actually prefers over the E36 for its raw feeling. I'd be perfectly happy with either one...
This photo was taken during a trip to Belgium's Zolder Circuit.
Thanks for the photo Arlo!

One of the good things about BMW month is that we can make great use of Kevin Raekelboom and his large archive of Europe-based car features . While looking through Kevin's photos for interesting BMW's, my eye was struck by this E36 M3 owned by Kirsten Geukens of Herentals Belgium. Besides serving as Kirsten's daily driver, the car is also used for trips to run on the Nurburgring - something Kirsten has become addicted to. With a car as good as the E36 M3 (especially in Euro spec!), one has to be selective with modifications, and Kirsten has taken a nice understated approach to this build....

Since it seems to be BMW month here, I thought it was fitting to post my friend 's car. He went a bit crazy on his wheel fitment; so crazy in fact that his rear fender polished his wheel for him. I figured some of you would love this thing. I respect the BS he puts up with to drive it with that stance, but I wouldn't want it to be me!! Enjoy the pictures! - Vaughn Gittin Jr.

While BMW's are the drift car of choice in Europe, they aren't seen to often here in the United States. This Washington-based E36 sedan from Team Instant Party was spotted at All Star Bash back in July. The car was nearly factory-spec except for the obvious suspension and wheel upgrades, but was still sliding nicely on the track and looked great while doing it.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for nice-looking four doors being hammered on the track - whether they are from Japan, Europe, or anywhere else.

One of the things I like about the themed months on Speedhunters is the opportunity to see the diversity that comes with one brand or type of car. One thing I've noticed about BMW's is the wild engine swaps people do on them. Really, it's not surprising when you have an inexpensive RWD car with a well-engineered chassis and a large engine bay. I was browsing the Drift Works forum earlier when I found this Toyota-powered E36 drift car being built in Germany....

While we at Speedhunters were busy preparing for the VAG month the event called Bimmerfest took place in Santa Barbara on the 2 nd of may. Thanks to Mike Burroughs we can enjoy some of the photo's he took during this event. I am told that this is one of the biggest gathering in the USA for BMW enthusiast and judging by the pictures the level of cars is pretty high. The car in the opening shot looks to me like a E21 3 series. I love the color and the stance with the wheels color coded in the chassis...
