This past weekend when I was in Fuji Speedway for the D1-GP there was another event back in central Tokyo that I really wanted to check out, the yearly Mille Miglia Japan classic car race. 103 cars set-off from Harajuku, right in front of the Meiji shrine on Saturday afternoon and headed on a 3-day, 1000-mile drive that would take them all the way up to Fukushima-ken and back down towards Tokyo, passing Honda's Twin Ring Motegi race track in Tochigi-ken and the famous Umihotaru Parking Area in...

Time to check out some more action from Round 7 of the D1-GP at Fuji Speedway, and what better way to open this post than with a nice shot of the 10 top-seeded cars, neatly lined up on the judged corner. Here is Sakuma and Tanaka during their first Best 16 outing. Sakuma managed to beat the Team Orange driver allowing him to progress to the next stage against Tezuka. Nagasawa's S15, sitting alone in the garage. One of the D1 image girls had to do a balancing act while being driven around in this...

I have to say, I'm quite glad I got to cover some drifting today, I was getting withdrawal symptoms after two months of no sideways action! I always love shooting at Fuji Speedway, the D1 guys really take it to the extreme in both speed and angle even with the rain that accompanied much of today's round. Following the new format, this week-end we'll see both Round 7, held today, and the 2009 Season finale tomorrow with Round 8. I really got trigger happy today so I hope you enjoy this...

This second installment covers the outside grounds of the VW-Speed Summer Show. In the opening picture you see the most favorite wheel amongst the show goers. The community is really laidback and it seemed that for most of the people that attended it was more like a get together with ‘old' and new friends....

The Bonneville Speedweek brings all sorts of people to the event. Some drive from far away lands in their hot rods that lack what many of us normally take for granted in our cars; cushioned seats, carpet, sound deadening, or even a roof. But the trip to "the Salt" in your home brewed hot rod or rat rod is a pilgramage to pure automotive glory. There's a huge sense that everyone that is at the event lives the lifestyle to it's fullest with style is one of the biggest aspects of the...

It has been a while, with a long summer break, but the British Touring Car Championship returned to the track last weekend at Snetterton, in Norfolk. Current Champion Fabrizio Giovanardi and Colin Turkington shared the top spot of the podium during the three race event. Turkington was a little fortunate to take the final race win of the day after original winner, James Nash, was excluded. Jason Plato started the day in pole position for Race One in his Silverline Racing Chevrolet Lacetti. Turkington...

This weekend gone saw the third round of the Irish Prodrift Series take place at Mondello Park, the only international race circuit in Ireland. With entry speeds of 100mph and a new line for the drivers to follow, plenty of action was on the cards for those in attendance. Like previous rounds, round three was all about the outside clipping point with only one inside clipping point on the course that was situated on the first corner. The outer clipping points increased the difficulty of the course...

What is it about cars that makes people get up way before they're suppose to? I've attended weddings where even the a groom doesn't want up early on his own wedding day. So what is it about these technological tin cans that makes us happily roll out of bed, drive up a mountain, hike it, only to freeze because you're at 10,000 feet above sea level and since the sun is not up yet? After you put in all that work, you find a nice cosy spot (be it a little bit freezing, and with mutated...

There was a lot of hype surrounding this week over this car: "Monster" Tajima's Suzuki SX4. This is a car designed specifically to tackle the Pike's Peak course and hopefully beating his previous Pike's Peak record, and also smashing the 10 minute barrier. Sadly, things were not to be. Tajima clocked in a 10 minutes and 15 second time on Sunday. A time far away from beating 10 minutes and also a time that was just shy of 14 seconds slower than his 2007 time of 10 minutes and...

While walking through the paddock the other day at the InterClub Historic Car Race I couldn't help but be amazed at the broad selection of cars. It felt great seeing the owners actually use them on track like they were designed to. And despite this being a friendly race series, some out there were taking it pretty seriously, which made for some great footage! Now this little selection here is something I was just not expecting. Vintage Formula 1 cars, and a few other racers, mixing it up with...

I felt some sympathy for Lihnbergh and the rest of the Speedhunters team in Jersey this weekend gone, as The Wall turned into The Pool . It's a scene I'm all too familiar with, but for one weekend in May, Ireland swapped weather systems and the sun unleashed its unrelenting heat on the Prodrift Punchestown course. We spoke about the rear clipping zone in Part II and this shot of Martin Ffrench displays the difference between non-seeded pro and seeded pro class, not only do you need to get...

Saturday morning saw the UK drivers arrive to Punchestown andit also saw the start to what was one of the hottest days in recent memory for the emerald isle.Punchestown is traditionally known as one of the worlds most famous horse racing courses. But for one weekend a year, a different kinds of horsepower takes over the Kildare countryside venue. It's not very often we see blue skies here so you'll be seeing plenty of them in this post. Team Japspeed's four car lineup along with the SkylineParts...

One of these days, I'm going to write a report where there was no hardship involved. Where everything ran according to plan and there were no sleepless nights or tearing hair out moments. But until that day, I'm just going to keep covering them as they happen. This story starts at Wexican Motorsport where Dean 'Karnage' Kearney is just after fitting a new TD06 turbo to his Maxxis endorsed Nissan Onevia. After everything was fitted, the car needed to be mapped on the Wexican rolling...

It was an early rise for me this Sunday morning as I packed up the car and headed straight for Tsukuba circuit. After the seamlessly non-stop rain that has plagued Japan over the last two weeks (well it is the rainy season after all) the weather miraculously changed giving us clear blue skies all day. I knew I was going to get very sun burned (and I did!) but as soon as I set foot in the paddock at Tsukuba I really didn't care as I was greeted with an impressive assortment of motoring jewels...

Before spending some time looking at the D1 Divisional Round in Mobara we were in the middle of last weekend's Tokyo Drift Exhibition coverage, held in Odaiba. To wrap things up I want to go back and check out some more action from this event, one that does a great job of promoting drifting to the masses. The House Nation Dancers where busy signing autographs and posing for pictures around the paddock for most of the day. It is exactly one year since DRoo-P introduced the Lexus SC drift machine...

Looking back at it now I think the Old/Now Car Festival at Tsukuba is one of the most varied shows I've had the pleasure to attend. The mix of old and new worked beautifully giving show goers an impressive line up of cars to feast their eyes on. As always, events like these offer the true car enthusiast lots of opportunity to blow cash on, with little stalls selling everything from memorabilia to cool little gadgets. I was tempted myself by this beautiful pencil drawing of a KPGC10 GT-R, but...

The Speedhunting trip to Italy kind of put a delay on my regular posting, but there was no way I was not going to go back to the Old/New Car Festival at Tsukuba Circuit for some more coverage. Little did I know that a few days after I took these pictures I would be at the Lamborghini museum seeing an even bigger lineup of "fighting bulls!" The Italian exotica from the "Circuit no Ookami" museum was joined by a big turnout of customer cars from Body Shop Happy , a Lotus specialist...

A couple of days before I got a call from Rod telling me I had to meet up with him in Italy for a last minute Speedhunting trip, I was getting soaked in Mobara. The event? D1 Divisional, where aspiring drifters compete to get the sought after points needed to certify for a D1 Street Legal license. For me these are the events that best represent the whole drift culture in Japan. The atmosphere is so chilled out, everyone is out to have fun and try their best to get those ever important points. With...

For the final installment from Adria I've prepared some of my favorite images from the night race. Within the first few laps from the rolling start the already low sun quickly set behind the horizon, and the circuit's illumination was flicked on. It didn't take long for the GT1 cars to pull away from the slightly slower GT2 class, leaving a second tightly packed group fighting fiercely for the lead. Here is the GT2 class doing their own thing... ...while Andrea was pulling away from everyone...
