What’s up SpeedHunters! I wanted to do something new again for the blog, so I got Justin Pawlak to comment on the photos and respond to my comments from our top 32 runs to give you guys more perspective and to keep it fun. Hope you like it! In this photo I’m shifting my focus between the top 32 battles preceding mine, and the Las Vegas strip in the background. I couldn’t help but imagine the music video to “Big City Nights” by the Scorpions in my head. The car was fully...

Nervously I waited. Pausing only in-between sips of my coffee to count the passing minutes. Slowly the little hand swept across the face of my watch, I counted 5 minutes to go. Around me the sounds of an almost innumerable number of slot machines drowned out the many conversations held by strangers in the hotel lobby. It was weird, I’m not really the kind of person who gets nervous about meeting people. But this time things were a bit different, this time I was meeting someone who I looked...

Good day Speedhunters and fans! Thank you, again, for taking the time to read what unfolded for me at Formula Drift Championship Round 5 at Las Vegas Speedway. Team Bergenholtz arrived in Las Vegas on Thursday morning, August 19th, and, as expected, the temperature read above 100°F. To prevent heat exhaustion, the team installed misters and prepared swamp coolers in the pit area. I expected to pant like a dog throughout the event but, because of those misters and swamp coolers, I was unfazed...

Yo Speedhunters! I have the lucky duty of driving the Falken Tire Nissan 350Z in Formula D. The 2010 season has been a bit of a struggle to say the least. My championship hopes were gone at this point in the season, so I was “all in” going to Las Vegas. I had nothing to lose, but a lot to gain for myself and Team Falken. This event was crazy, from the temps to the insane schedule that had us practicing from 9pm-1am, and eating dinner at 3am. Vegas…Where anything goes!...

After making it to the Formula Drift Long Beach season opener and Round 4 in Seattle, our small time Japan Auto FSR team managed to get back out for the third time in our rookie year. Formula Drift Round 5: After Dark was held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and all teams and drivers were bringing their A game as the championship was being reeled in. I was so happy to see our people there! I wanted to have them experience what Formula Drift was all about - the driving, the atmosphere, the heat (literally...

Hello Speedhunters and welcome to my Vegas Blog. Life is pretty busy at the moment with the Need for Speed D-Mac 86 taking up all my time back home. These FD events seem to come around pretty quickly. But, what better stress relief after 12 hours on a plane than sitting into a 800hp drift car and ripping up some Azenis 615K’s! The Saturn Sky looked great as usual! Its a credit to the guys at ASD its like they re-paint it between events. It never ceases to amaze me how much work these guys do...

Between Seattle and Vegas, I teamed up with V-LEDs to create a surprise new look with the RX8 for the EA Games crew. The red and blues are themed to coincide with “Hot Pursuit.” There was no better place to debut them than after sun set and long into the night at Las Vegas. The heat and sun can make you a little delirious, it’s important to stay hydrated in the desert. I had also been up late the last few nights. Vegas was the test run, not only for the new lights, but for my new...

The long break between the Top 32 and the Top 16 last Saturday day night allowed plenty of time for us to check out the Fatlace 1 of 1 Car Show. The Vegas car scene has been on the up for a while now, and this was the perfect spot to get a look....

Moving on with our coverage from Formula Drift Las Vegas, it's time for the customary look at tandem competition, starting with the Top 32. With insane entry speeds and nothing but K-rails and tire walls to stop you, things were sure to get interesting. ...

There really isn't any place that Matt Powers' car is more at home than at the Las Vegas stop of the Formula D season. The bright neon lights of Sin City really compliment the ready-for-a-night-on-the-town neon and animal print S14. So, point your mouse on over to the desktops section for some Sin City flavor for your desktops! -Linhbergh Speedhunters FD Las Vegas coverage

It's Monday morning on the West Coast, and by now most of us are home from Las Vegas after enduring crowded airports and long traffic jams. A quick note - never drive from Vegas to LA on a Sunday if you don't have a few hours to waste sitting in traffic on Interstate 15. Anyways, as usual I'll kick off my coverage with a few general observations before jumping into Top 32 action....

Last year in New Jersey, Falken Tire swept the podium for the first time ever at a Formula Drift event. Tonight in Vegas, the teal and blue repeated that feat - lead by Tyler McQuarrie in his drop top Z. Tyler took the win on a hot night in Vegas while Dai Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. took second and third respectively, with the battle for the championship getting hotter by the minute. We've got plenty of coverage on the way, but for now big congrats go to Tyler, Dai, Vaughn and everyone at Team Falken. -Mike Garrett...

Have you ever come across someone that you consider "old" who continues to harp on about how things were better in their day... Perhaps this has something to do with age... do we start to latch on to icons from our youth as we get older? Do we become less open to new ideas and styles? Does our point-of-view harden, and our personality stiffens into a comfort zone? Hmmm... well what ever the case, I must be getting old, as I don't like new cars as much as I used to. Perhaps it's...
