I love motorsports. In particular, I love motorsport photography. I've loved it since I was young. I’ve only started to shoot motorsports at the end of 2007. Mainly because of the region of Portugal I live in. The people of Portugal mainly care about Soccer and Motocross (things I don’t particularly care about). I am now living in the west cost of Portugal, in Leiria, and I’ve discovered that Leiria is full of classic cars enthusiasts! I am such a huge fan classic cars. In the...

The Algarve Autodrome's main straight is an automotive photographer's dream come true. The contemporary architecture of the main grandstand is a truly phenomenal compositional element. Add the just-as contemporary pit garages into the equation and what you end up with are some deeply dramatic lines of composition in whatever you photograph throughout pit lane. It's utterly brilliant. Oh, there's a GT1 spec Nissan GTR somewhere in this photo which also ready for desktop wallpaper consumption...

As I sit here in the Algarve Autodrome media room witnessing the Portuguese sun disappear into the horizon, I can't help but reminisce about the insane racing that I've seen through the viewfinder of my camera this weekend. The GT3 and GT1 grid is full of beautiful cars turned into even more beautiful race cars. And the Algarve Autodrome proved to be an epic backdrop to play host to some amazing GT racing. As I start to pack up and leave this racetrack, I leave for you all, one more set of...

Most of us have daily commutes. It could be to the office, to school, or even both. And a good amount of those commutes has us sitting in terrible traffic. But this traffic, I'm sure, many of us wouldn't mind sitting in at all. -Linhbergh

The Algarve Autodrome is an astoundingly beautiful track. Its rural and hilly Portuguese countryside compliments the track's contemporary architecture and facilities. The track itself is so quite a feast for the eyes with its many elevation changes. I may not had been to as many famous tracks as some of my esteemed colleagues, but this track is, by far, the best track had the privilege of experiencing. Here a shot of the Team Need for Speed BMW Z4 GT3 powering through turn 14 and if you head...

There's been a lot of hunting going on even before we even arrived into our destination. Our travel activities varied from consciousnesshunting, sleephunting, luggagehunting, deodoranthunting and of course, foodhunting. But Rod, Jonathan Moore, Will Roegge and myself finally arrived to Algarve, Portugal, to hunt that particular form of hunting we enjoy the most: speedhunting. This weekend, the Algarve Autodromo plays hosts another round of the FIA GT series. It's been a while since I last...

Yesterday Aurora Racing Designs announced that is developing an FIA GT1 race car based on the BMW-Alpina B6. Using experience from the B6 GT3 project, the new race car will be developed exclusively by Aurora for customers looking to campaign in the GT1 World Championship.
Little info about the car has been given at this point, but it looks it will be a worthy addition to the GT1 field.

Down to earth with a bump, the AMG Mercedes squad trailed back to Affalterbach to conduct the post mortem on the Le Mans debacle. That the two engine failures suffered were as a result of the failure of a very minor part added to the sense of injustice. But the AMG squad are real professionals, so the problem was put right and everyone focused on the next challenge, winning the FIA GT Championship. That meant beating Porsche who had just won at Le Mans, time for a bit of serious revenge. Recently...

When contemplating our lives, personally and professionally, there are areas that all of us prefer not to dwell on. Failures, accidents, disasters are generally airbrushed out of our memories and our CVs, the past is held to be a happy place Corporate bodies are no different, being essentially an extension of human activity, so it should come as little surprise that a car as successful as the AMG Mercedes Benz CLK GTR and its successors is, for the most part, ignored by its parent. There is virtually...

I will be King And you You will be Queen Though nothing Will drive them away We can be Heroes Just for one day We can be us Just for one day If ever a song was just written for a car, David Bowie's Berlin Wall inspired "Heroes" would fit like a glove on the Porsche 911 GT1-98. This week marks the beginning of some intense coverage of the GT scene here on SpeedHunters. Rod will, no doubt, bring you all up to speed on that but I thought I would jump into the time machine and go back to...

This past Friday, Jonathan Moore and I drove out to the town of Rye to Speedhunt the brand new Sumo Power/JR Motorsport facility. While we knew this was an impressive facility, nothing could have prepared us to comprehend the depth and scale of the place, let alone the marvelous machines it houses. Jonathan is still trying to digest what we saw on Friday, and will be starting to work on a report just as soon as he can gather his thoughts together. In the meantime here's a little teaser shot....

Autosport, the magazine, will be 60 years old in 2010. So at the Show that uses its name, the Autosport International, it seems appropriate to celebrate this anniversary. So to kick off the SpeedHunters coverage of ASI I thought I would have a quick look round that particular stand. Of course being Autosport the majority of the cars that make up the exhibition are from Formula One, just look at the intricate arrangement at the front wing of the Renault. But it is not all F1 as this iconic Lotus Cortina...

There is no doubt Nismo wanted to concentrate on the legendary racing history of the GT-R at the Nismo Festival this year, with a very evident focus being placed on more modern machinery. The next year will be very exciting for Nissan, Nismo and the GT-R as the FIA GT GT1-class R35 that has been under development for the past year takes on a full season of the FIA GT Championship. John Brooks has already taken a look at the 2009 car in detail , but after seeing the 2010 development cars at Fuji Speedway...

Minutes, hours, days, months, seasons, years, decades, centuries...........all will pass eventually, so too for motor sport. It seems only yesterday that I was heading for Germany and the first round of a brave new Championship. Hockenheim was the location and April 1997 was the time. Well like me the FIA GT Championship has got a little older, if not wiser and yesterday, after 132 races and 13 seasons the affair ended. For next year it will be all change but for now let's have a quick look at...

Ok, let's pick up the story of Klaus Ludwig and see what he's been up to from 1984 until present. At the end of Part1 , his fortunes were starting to flat line just a little bit. Klaus had chosen to race for Zakspeed Ford racing team instead of Porsche a few years previously, and it was becoming apparent that this perhaps was not the best long term decision for a 1980s sports car driver. As the Group C and IMSA GTP eras entered their third year in '84, Porsche was the sports car to have...

As I look back into some of my favourite bits of motorsports history, one name keeps cropping up over and over again: Klaus Ludwig. I'm not necessarily a big fan of the man himself, but I have an immense amount of respect for what he's achieved over the course of his long and varied career. Some race drivers fade away after a decade or so of active racing, but not Klaus Ludwig. He's made car racing a lifelong habit... and all the power to him for doing so! As I've put this gallery...

In his masterpiece, The Waste Land , TS Eliot asserted that "April is the cruellest month". Back in 1997 it must have seemed so to those of us anticipating the opening round of the FIA GT Championship to be staged at the HockenheimRing. For the teams there were days without end as they struggled to get their new cars ready for the contest, parts to be assembled, tested and refined and hopefully, made fast and reliable. April had been a cruel time at Hockenheim in Aprils past, 1968 saw the...

It happens only rarely but when it does you know, just know, with absolute certainty that a car is right when you first look at it. One such instance was back at the beginning of 1997 when the McLaren F1 GTR "Longtail" appeared. The original McLaren F1 GTR was a thing of beauty and as such normally should have been left alone and not "improved", at least that would be conventional wisdom. However the dictates of competition meant that 'something must be done' so remarkably...

The fourth Driver's Experience film was originally going to be shot at the Nurburgring 24Hs with the NFS Speedhunters Porsche Carrera Cup car but due to some scheduling and production problems we had to very quickly find another driver, racing team and race series to work with. A phone call to the Speedhunter John Brooks netted the suggestion for us to work with Andrea Bertolini, Maserati, Vitaphone Racing and the FIA GT race series. We then had to pour all of our efforts into attaining permission...

In conditions that ranged from monsoon to the height of summer via cold spring mornings, the 2009 edition of the Spa 24 Hours followed the usual pattern of the event in trying to bring a year's worth of weather to 24 hours in the Ardennes. The race was expected to be a run in the park for Vitaphone Maserati who have proved to be the dominant force in the Spa Enduro during the past few years. The swansong parade of the MC12s was ruined by the Pekaracing Corvette Z06 of Mike Hezemans, Jos Menten...
