The Autosport show was a great way to remind ourselves just how good rallying was – and still is. Despite troubles behind the scenes, the WRC has kicked off with another classic Monte Carlo rally , and rallying as a sport is still a must-see event. Forget the politics: watch the stages. The main attraction at ASI for rally fans was the British Rally Heroes Display, which showed off half a dozen classics from the last 50 years of the sport from a UK perspective. Ford Escorts continue to be a...

Once a year, my local Ford main dealer empties its showroom and forecourt of all its wares. The reason? To allow the Irish RSOC branch to takeover the premises with a host of quality Ford metal, both new and old. The show is free and open to public. It's more of a big friendly meet than a show as such, with a laid back atmosphere and plenty of cars present for everyone to drool over. The only issue I have with attending something like this is the hours I'm sure to waste afterwards searching...

By now, almost everyone on the internet has seen Gymkhana Four. If you haven't, do so now before proceeding. So with that, let's take our second and final look at the production of the film.......

The Gymkhana short film series have done what many other automotive films try to do but fall rather short: these films broke that tightly wound automotive mold and broke into the mainstream. With the first film hovering somewhere around the 10 million view mark on Youtube, the second film hitting around 27 million and the third raking in a solid 34 million, it's safe to say that these videos are much more than just popular and that Ken Block more than just a household name. Today, the automotive...

One lucky contest winner got to ride in Ken Block's RallyX Ford Fiesta from Los Angeles International Aiport under police escort to the X Games in downtown LA --a 25 minute freeway hop. The word cool doesn't even suffice to describe that situation. Though one lucky person got to experience the real thing, the rest of us will just have to enjoy it with this desktop wallaper. Head on over to the desktops section to download away! -Linhbergh Mobil 1 Facebook Monster World Rally Team

Sit back and think for a minute. Think about what you're doing this very second. I can safely say that reading this Speedhunters is one of those things. But how about the others? Maybe checking your Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or browsing music on Spotify. If there's one other certainty, it's the fact that none of us were being picked up by Ken Block and his Rally X car from the airport to go to the X Games. That's exactly what happened this morning at the Los Angeles International...

Rallycross holds special memories for me. As a kid in the '80s I remember being taken down to Brands Hatch, my local track, on chilly winter mornings with mist rising and the frosty ground hard underfoot. The crowds would be packed in around the temporary course made up of sections of the Indy circuit and gravel paths cut through the in-field – and the wickedly fast, horribly bumpy straight across the back of the South Bank parking area. We'd be treated to the short, sharp shock of...

Another day, another Ford Fair spotlight. This time we've jumped some twenty years forward after yesterdays spotlight to this MKVI model. The front mount intercooler is a bit of a giveaway that this isn't your normal Fiesta ST. After checking out the owners website I learned of the considerable work that went into this build. There are lots of little neat touches hear I never even noticed when looking at it. It's a very, very well thought out car. The bodykit is a modified version of...

One of the cars that caught my attention at the Ford Fair last weekend was this 80's Ford Fiesta. I'm pretty certain it's the MKII variant as the MKI had round lights. The Fiesta has long been associated as a reliable town car and with the exception of the XR, ST and RST variants has lived a relatively sedated life. The decision to turn this simple city car into a caged, stripped and powerful track car was pure wisdom. It's not the first and it won't be the last Fiesta in this...

Earlier today, I headed over to Rhy's Millen's shop to conduct a shoot with Tanner Foust and his Rally Cross Ford Fiesta. When I pulled up to the shop, everything seemed to be normal and where things should be. Rhys' rig was up front and not too far away from it to it was Tanner's.... But when I walked into the shop I was greeted by a shop floor full of Fiestas getting prepped for this weekend's X Games! At the entrance of the garage sat a car that needs no introduction really...

Regular Speedhunters will be aware from our preview last week that the Intercontinental Rally Challenge started its season last week with the Monte Carlo Rally. It was a dominant and quite surprising win from Mikko Hirvonen in the all new Ford Fiesta S2000. Hirvonen led from the start from Skoda’s Juho Hanninen. Peugeot followed closely with last year’s winner, Sebastien Ogier (above!) and Stephane Sarrazin and Kris Meeke in hot pursuit. One of the favourites, Jan Kopecky had a dire start...

The legendary Monte Carlo Rally starts today, with a prologue stage in the French Riviera, en-route to Monte Carlo. The ‘Monte’ is one of the longest running motorsport events, dating back to 1911, and is normally part of the World Rally Championship. Due to the ridiculous FIA rule that rally venues need to rotate in and out of the World Championship, the premier class this year is the popular Intercontinental Rally Championship. The 'IRC' started in 2006 with the assistance of...

In what was likely the biggest car debut at the LA Auto Show, Ford took the wraps off the 2011 Fiesta. Again, this car is already on sale in other parts of the world, but it represents a big step for Ford as they begin to "European-ize" their American car line up. I had a chance to drive a Euro spec Fiesta at the SEMA show and was quite impressed with the little car. When Ford pulled the covers off the US-spec car on Wednesday I was pleased to see that it looked just as cool the Euro versions that have been making rounds as part of the Fiesta Movement....

The RS Owners club held their annual National Day last weekend at the new home of the British Grand Prix, Donington Park As European Speedhunters will know, the RS brand has been associated with Ford Rally inspired performance products since 1970. The RS brand has come and gone during that time as Ford changed their road, race and rally programs, but the RS brand returns to the showroom in 2009 with the new Focus RS. The Owners club has a great forum and I found some great images by member, Fiddy...
