During last year's World Time Attack Challenge I bumped into Andrew Brilliant, a well known aerodynamicist from Yokohama, Japan. Andrew has developed aero for not only high profile time attack cars, but also for Super GT, GRAND-AM Rolex and American Le Mans. One of his recent projects caught our attention: this impressive, all-carbon bodied Evo known as Nemo. ...

My name’s Amaury Laparra and since an early age I've been a huge automotive fan. Although I study architecture and design here in Paris, my passion for cars has only grown more intense. I've been taking photos of landscapes since I was four or five years old, but as soon as I got a DLSR I wanted to mix my passions for photography and cars. Let's start with this shot. I was walking in the streets of Paris when I found this SLR parked a few meters from my home. I shot a lot around...

Many of you will be familiar with Easton Chang, the automotive photographer whose work regularly graces magazine covers and manufacturer advertisements. However, what few realise is the fact that Easton is self-taught and self-made. Through years of hard work and dedication to his art, Easton has gone from a nobody to one of the established photographers, and has claimed a staggering number of awards along the way. I first worked with Easton some eight years ago when I was the Editor of ASM, and...

With the cancellation of the fourth round in Thailand, last weekend's FD Malaysia became the season finale for the 2011 Formula Drift Asia series. When it was announced that Manabu Orido would be competing in the Team RSR Supra, many were hoping for a dream final between him and Daigo Saito. Those wishes were heard, with the FD Malaysia decider indeed between Orido and Saito. Saito has proven invincible in the FD Asia series, winning every round that he's competed in. The Saito-Orido battle...

If you live in the UK then Jonny Smith is pretty much a household name. He has been co-hosting Channel 5's Fifth Gear TV show for years now, reviewing cars along side Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler Henderson. It was by pure chance that I bumped into Jonny at the Tokyo Motor Show and got chatting to him about the vast car culture that exists in Japan. When I mentioned that I would be covering the Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show over the upcoming weekend his eyes lit up, and said he would definitely...

Now to continue the detailed build story of Titan Motorsports insane drag Supra. Take it away guys.
With the car’s fabrication complete, the next step is to coat the raw metal in order to prevent corrosion. We are fortunate to have a great powder coater less than a mile from the shop that we contracted to coat the chassis....

Speedhunters reader Stephen Sullivan was one of the lucky who were at the Hutchinson Island racetrack for the Savannah Speed Classic. Arranged in conjunction with the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance, the event played host to some truly amazing machinery. Here's what Stephen had to say about it....

What do you do when you have a fully-built and specced engine ready to go, but the rest of the car isn’t finished? Find another rolling shell to put it into, of course! This is Mike ‘Boxxer’ Bradley’s road-legal, 1980 Ford Escort Mk2 four-door, built for drifting, track days and general messing about. It might look tatty on the outside, but inside and underneath it’s incredibly well-specced. The engine in question is a 2.1-litre Cosworth YB, converted to normally-aspirated...

To me the Mercedes Black Series is one of the most hardcore vehicles on the road. They excel in performance and handling. To top it all off, they also look amazing on the road and on the track. But there are always people who try and improve on something that is already ‘perfect'. After seeing the progress photos I have no doubt that Fluid MotorUnion and Reaction Brand Marketing have made something good. even better. I'll let Andrew Krok from Fluid MotorUnion take you through the process...

RE-Xtreme ... A look inside the psyche. What makes us devoted car fanatics tick? What makes us obsess? These are the passionate questions we can't answer with a "Like Button." My father owning a hobby store and being a devoted RC aero-modeller is a pretty good start for an obsession. I've seen plastic models my father says I built before I can remember and some of my earliest memories include sitting on my fathers knee steering the family car down the dirt track on the way to an...

Annyeong Haseyo Speedhunters! Greetings from South Korea! My name is Richard Kim Jr, and I’m here to talk a little bit about my machine, a 2010 Hyundai GenCoupe, and the overall drifting scene here in Korea. While living and working for the US Army here, I decided to pick up Korea’s first true RWD Sports Car. While a lot bigger than the Nissans and Toyotas of my past, Hyundai really took a step in the right direction with this car. Going to college in Seattle, being the former Running...

This event marked a string of firsts for Formula DRIFT: it was their debut in Indonesia, their first live television broadcast, and for two newcomers to FD, it was their first time on the podium. Drifting continues to grow across the world, and the sport is proving extremely popular throughout Asia. The clouds held back the rain, meaning the inaugural Achilles Radial Formula DRIFT Indonesia was held under the blazing Indonesian sun. The event was held at the Jakarta International Expo, where Indonesian...

Many of Europe's best drifters converged on Bucharest, the capital of Romania, for the Drift Grand Prix. With the Palace of Parliament as the stunning backdrop, this street drift event was certainly breathtaking. Drivers came from many different countries, including Poland, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ireland, the UK and of course Romania. The paddock area was crowded with almost 50 cars, ranging from BMWs to Nissans. Nikkolet Szanto was the only female...

Enjuku Racing has been well known in the Nissan S-Chassis world for over 12 years. From providing great parts and service, to our past professional Formula Drift programs, we know how to get things done! We decided it was time to branch out into some newer chassis and make a big impression. So for SEMA this year, we've joined forces with BC Racing Suspension to build a Hyundai Genesis that would turn a few heads. We removed the stock turbocharged 2.0L Hyundai engine to make room for something...

Chances are, if you’ve been to a car show, Formula Drift event, Road Race, or supercar meet in the past three decades, you’ve seen a set of HRE wheels. As one of the last remaining wheel companies designing, manufacturing and finishing wheels completely in-house, I thought it would be interesting to take you for a closer look at HRE and how we create what many consider the finest wheels in the world. HRE Wheels’ 60,000 square foot facility is located in North San Diego County in...

Elgrands are immensely popular here in Japan among the 'vanning' crowd. Most of the time you will see them hauling a family or even decked out in neons to attract as much attention as possible. However this Elgrand isn't meant to do either. The owner enlisted TRIAL to make it able to attack the local circuits. And, attack them well. This van is such an oddity that OPTION VIDEO picked up on it and gave it some time in one of their DVDs. Well known Japanese driver Nobuteru Taniguchi put...

When I first saw this car in 2005 I instantly fell in love with how it looked and I had to have it. There were some basic mods like lowering springs, nice wheels, and some exhaust tips installed, and in my eyes, it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen....

Inspiration is something that affects us on a daily basis, whether you know it or not, from perusing the posts of Speedhunters to popping down the local shop for some milk and seeing an exciting silhouette over the fence, it’s never far away. For many of us our patterns are laid out in younger years, maybe a parent tooled away in the garage, or religiously watched a certain brand of racing, the posters on your bedroom wall and toys in the cupboard will have often have blueprinted a future path...

There's one thing about Formula D that stands out from the rest, it's the fact that the people associated with the sport genuinely love drifting --from the drivers to the mechanics to the people shooting the video and photography. We spend an unnatural amount of hours traveling, being at the track, working on cars and, to members of the media like myself, editing afterwards. The mechanics and team managers stay at the track through the night with repairs and running errands to prepare for...

I'm sure some of you have already been through Mike's Monterey coverage last month already, but when I found these images on a forum I frequent I just knew you guys and girls would appreciate them. I'll let Otis take it from here ... - PMcG The beginning of June is a very exciting time of the year for me. Not because school is coming to an end, but because my favorite week of the year is finally within reach. That week is Car Week in Monterey. I have been fortunate enough to be able to...
