When the first Pro Touring cars hit the scene in the 1990s, the idea was simple. Take the timeless style of a vintage Muscle Car and make it perform like a modern machine. Not only was a Pro Touring car built to be an all around performer, it was also built to eat up miles without breaking a sweat - whether it was a long interstate run or a backroad romp. At some point though, Pro Touring cars may have jumped the shark....

Of the many classic muscle cars that were at the Hotchkis open house , the one car that stood out the most was this 1973 Porsche 911 RSR. It's strange to think that a company, like Hotchkis Suspension, which mainly caters to the muscle and pony car communities, would have this racing relic. But a thought and a half later, it made perfect sense that this 911 was where it was. This '73 was the third Customer RSR ever delivered and from then on it had quite a racing history. John Hotchkis Sr...

There were a lot of quality GM muscle cars at the Hotchkis Suspension open house. Fellow speedhunter, Mike Garrett, gave us great look at the event . But of all the cars that were on the lot, there was one car that stood out the most for both Mike and myself. It was this a first generation Pontiac Grand Am --a pretty rare car. Under the hood sat an Edelbrock 455 big block. Seeing and hearing all these full sized muscle cars with rumbling big blocks has wet my appetite for one.... I just love the...

There were a plethora of American muscle cars in and around the Hotchkis Suspension warehouse during their open house last Saturday. But in the field of the rare breed of corner carving American cars was this Porsche 962 which was once driven by Hotchkis' owner, John Hotchkis, himself in the IMSA GTP class. This classic prototype racer may look like it's in pristine condition, but its no garage queen. This 962 sees quite a bit of action at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca on a fairly...

On Saturday our friends at Hotchkis Suspension opened up their facility in Santa Fe Springs for a big Open House and GM Car Meet.
An opportunity to enjoy a complimentary lunch, get a behind the scenes look at Hotchkis, and check out some cool GM muscle? I'm in....

Last Sunday was a picture perfect day of "car life". It started off early in the morning when the wife and I hopped in my Mustang and drove up to Woodland Hills for the Motor 4 Toys charity meet. After hanging around for a few hours, snapping photos and drooling over the machinery, it was time for the day's main event begin - a cruise through the mountains of Malibu with a group of enthusiasts from Hotchkis Performance....

Like many other young boys, I grew up liking cars because of how they looked. In my ignorant, youthful eyes, some cars looked like spaceships, others looked like monstrous beasts and, of course, there were the cars that looked unexplainably cool. When that little boy transformed into a government certified automobile operator, the first thought was, of course, to buy a car and make it look as cool as possible. Driving functionality was secondary to visual aesthetics. This was the case with hot rod...

Twenty minutes was all that I needed. Actually, scratch that. It was that first spirited corner which convinced me. The other nineteen minutes and fifty-eight seconds was a pounding-the-point-into-my-cranium experience. I was sitting passenger in a car that would normally cower at the brief mention of anything corner related. But not this 1968 Chevy Camaro RS. This particular lady, dressed-to-the-nines in Traffic Violation Red, has been completely redone from the ground up to do very un-muscle car...

What comes to mind when you think of a Good Guys Rod and Custom show?
If you're like me, then it's probably images of people sitting in the sun next to polished, billet-laden street rods and not much else. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I headed to the Orange County Fairgrounds for the Fourth Annual Goodguys OC Get Together.
While there were plenty of pastel-colored street rods with "do not touch" signs in the window, there was also lots of genuinely cool stuff to be found....

One look at the picture above and you can instantly imagine the rumbling of all that Detroit metal. Each of the three cars give you a completely different sort badassery. The green Plymouth Valiant is classically sophisticated, the yellow Dodge Challenger is a rugged badass, and the Viper is just pure, raw, gut wrenching power. The guys at Hotchkis Suspension held a track day at Willow Springs International Raceway and invited Speedhunters to come and drive their various selection of tuned muscle...
