As the Drift Allstars 2011 series draws to a close, they really did save the best for last. The final round was to be the annual visit to London and more importantly, Wembley Stadium. 2011 had come down to two drivers. The unstoppable James Deane in the Low Brain Drifters PS13 was leading the Championship after wins in Malta and Birmingham ... ... but you should never think you have it in the bag when Nigel Colfer is sitting just behind in the points and hungry for his first overall pro championship...

After what must have been the toughest and closest fought drift event I've ever witnessed on these shores, James Deane eventually emerged victorious in the Low Brain Drifter's PS13. The event which saw some serious upsets during qualifying came down to a final between James and our own D-Mac. However, upon initiation Darren cut the first turn slightly, damaging the sump of the Need for Speed '86. Shortly after the escaping engine oil erupted in a lick of flame before extinguishing itself...

The Drift Allstars series returned to the UK for the penultimate round of the Championship. The troubles the UK has been having over the last week almost put the event itself in jeopardy, but I'm glad to report that though some areas were badly effected by the unrest, the UK on whole is not the war zone that the mass media had been reporting. The only riot here [ Jeremy Clarkson tag on ] was on ... the track! [ Jeremy Clarkson tag off] The venue was a trip down memory lane. Not used for drift...

It's not that often I get the chance to do a spot of international Speedhunting, so when the opportunity to cover the third round of the Drift Allstars Championship in Malta arose I didn't need to be asked twice. Round three was held at the Ta'Quali Stadium in the middle of Malta. Not only was it to be the first International event for Drift Allstars but it was the first time Malta has ever hosted a drift event. The weekend would consist of sixteen of the regular JDM drivers and a selection...

Formula D regular James Deane picked up his second Prodrift Series title this weekend gone. The reigning 2008 champion made it look all too easy, picking up two wins from the first three events before topping it off with a win at the final round in Fermoy on Sunday. The event saw him take down his team mate Christy Carpenter in an epic top four battle before eliminating Damien Shortt in the final. All of us at Speedhunters would like to congratulate James on his success and wish him the best of luck...

Asides from JDM Allstars, Prodrift Ireland also staged their first round of 2010 in Co. Cork, Ireland this weekend gone. Formula D newcomer James Deane got back into this SR20 powered Mazda RX7 and promptly took the win. There is a full event report on the event on the Prodrift Series website, link is included below. Former Prodrift Ireland and European Champion James Deane has just announced that he will compete at the first round of Formula D in Long Beach, at the wheel of the Falken Tires S15. The drive has been provided to him with the support of Falken Tires USA, MCNSport and WKD Imports. This brings the number of Irish drivers to four, all current and former Prodrift champions. It would seem the Shamrock Highway is still delivering some top drawer talent to the US scene. All of us at Speedhunters would...

There aren't too many drift dynasties around. Let alone one quite as successful as these two brothers. Born and raised in County Cork, in the south of Ireland, James (L) and Mike (R) are the most successful brothers in the European drifting world. To get a better view of this story, we need to go back to 2004, where I first saw Mike competeing in an E30 325 BMW. . Like pretty much all Irish drift stories, this one again begins at the home of Irish drifting, the Rosegreen / Tipperary International...

As Mike already mentioned in his event report of the Drift Australia Season Finale , it was a busy weekend for the drifting community. In the same weekend Europe witnessed the final of the Prodrift European Series and the JDM Allstars, who decided to join forces and give the audience one hell of an event. It was held on the Lydden Hill Circuit in the UK, that meant that a lot of drivers from Ireland made the journey to compete against UK's finest. Lydden Hill is famous for their high curbing...
