Working as a Speedhunter may be the best gig on the face of the earth, but I certainly wouldn't call it an easy job. There's the travel, the long days, and the rigors of shooting in all types of weather - just to name a few of the challenges. Then of course comes the many additional hours of photo editing and preparing the stories themselves.
For me, yesterday was probably the longest and most exhausting 24 hours in my Speedhunting career, yet it was also one of the absolute best. This is all thanks to the Osaka's vibrant car scene, and more importantly - the hospitality of its people....

I thought I would go ahead and post up some more pictures from my visit to the old school Japanese swap meet held last weekend here in the Los Angeles area. While the parking lot was small, it was packed with more than enough things to attract my camera lens....

Last night the local JDMST end of month meet took place in Queensland, Australia. Due to severe thunderstorms the meet was held at an undercover parking garage. Despite the weather, there was a good mix of cars that attended. Charlie is a regular, attending each and every meet in his little red roaster. This time, lower than ever. Keep an eye out for a spotlight coming up. As the night progressed more and more cars rolled in. These RX-7s grabbed a lot of attention when they came, which has to be...

Over the last several days the state of California has been hit hard by a series of cold rainstorms coming off the pacific - covering the mountains with snow and bringing chaos to the usually sun-drenched freeways of Los Angeles. Fortunately, the weather cleared up yesterday morning just in time for a gathering of Datsun and other old school Japanese car fans in Eagle Rock....

On Saturday our friends at Hotchkis Suspension opened up their facility in Santa Fe Springs for a big Open House and GM Car Meet.
An opportunity to enjoy a complimentary lunch, get a behind the scenes look at Hotchkis, and check out some cool GM muscle? I'm in....

If you like cars and live in Southern California - there is ALWAYS something to do. This morning I pulled myself out of bed at 7am, showered and headed out for a very short drive up to the Starbucks on Hawthorne and Artesia in Torrance. The purpose? To check out the weekly "Caffeine Cruisers" meet....

With this colorful Lotus lineup, it's time for another look at Sunday's Motor 4 Toys charity car meet in Woodland Hills.
As you saw during the first post, no matter what kind of automobiles you dig, there was something here for you....

It was a gray, wet weekend here in Southern California, but that didn't stop thousands of car enthusiasts from gathering at the Warner Center in Woodland Hills yesterday for the annual Motor 4 Toys event. The great thing about Motor 4 Toys is that it not only gives people a chance to enjoy cars, it also gives them a chance to help out the community....

You could have walked up and down that Sydney street a dozen times and you'd be totally oblivious to the fact that there was a car meet going on just a few yards away. One of Australia's newest online car communities is VWGolf.net.au, and what better location to hold their car meet than inside a warehouse, away from prying eyes. I like attending intimate car meets like this as there's no flaunting or pretence; just a tight community who want to get together with those who share the same...

Last weekend I checked out some flat-fours of the classic German variety at the VW Classic in Irvine - this weekend it was flat fours again, but of the modern Japanese variety.
Saturday was the annual Subaru Summer Solstice, better known as S3 - and I headed down to the Torrey Pines Gliderport in beautiful San Diego to have a look....

You'd be mistaken if you thought these photos were taken at an exotic location in Japan. They were in fact taken in Milton Keynes, in the United Kingdom on what looks like the first sunny day of the year. The event was just a gathering of a local club of sorts, the Okishima Program. A group of enthusiasts who love their cars, some good stance and nice styling. Just a bunch of like minded people with interests in grip and drift alike. Take this FC for example. Nice, clean, cool wheels and a decent...

It's a bit ironic how I sarcastically spoke of Southern California's warm winters in my last post, as right now we are experiencing an honest to god winter storm here in LA. One that's complete with snowfall, frost warnings and other wintery bits.
Anyways, It seems that the first half of my coverage from last weekend's edition of Cars and Coffee went over well, so lets jump right into some more photos from the event....

It was a cold weekend here in Southern California.
So cold.
Cold as in you'd probably want to thrown on a light sweater before going out for a cruise in your convertible.
Being blessed with what's probably the most car-friendly climate in the world, the auto events never really stop here in LA. It's been a few months since I moved to SoCal, but it wasn't until this weekend that I finally was able to get down to Irvine for Cars and Coffee....

Wow what a response we are getting to our Access Zero 42 coverage! Glad you lot like the photos, but the true testament has to go to the organizers of the show who brought a lot of fellow auto enthusiasts together for this meet. Linhbergh and I decided we were going to select 1 car from the event to shoot as the November "Slammed" theme calendar desktop. It needed to be a car that we hadn't already shot as photo features, and one that we weren't already aware of. I wasn't sure...

Just found this cool shot of an R32, R33, R34 and last but not least an R35. My choice would be the R33 because I know that particular car. Which one would you choose? -Jeroen Willemsen

I've been down to the Daikoku Parking Area (PA) rather often this last month. First it was the RX7 annual meeting in July, then the AE86 gathering last week, but last night it was more of a small get together with a few car -otaku friends of mine. I wasn't expecting to shoot anything as it was just our monthly meet, but I brought my camera gear in the back of the 34, just in case. It's a good thing I did, as there were quite a few interesting cars that dropped by over the course of the...

The game of "one-ups-manship" is a centuries old tradition. It is the catalyst to inter-group competition. It can possibly lead to a groups demise, or strengthen a group and become a spawning ground to new trends, influence, inspiration and innovation. This age old tradition continues on today. Remember when you were a little and that one kid got that seriously sweet Transformers lunch box? You were raging with jealously, but you totally wanted to show up the next week with a Voltron lunch...
