You may remember that I came across quite a few GT-Rs during my visit to Australian car builders Mercury Motorsport. And out of all of them - ranging from R32s to R35s - this one in particular deserved a closer look. This is a gorgeous example of a cleanly modified, road registered R32 GT-R - which just so happens to produce 675hp at four wheels. That power comes courtesy of a Tomei Genesis crate motor that is stroked to 2.8 litres and running on E85 fuel. The twin turbo setup has been replaced with...

Yawn. Not another Golf right? Indeed, looking at the car above I'd understand if you felt it lacked the shock value to be on Speedhunters. So I'll let the facts do the talking. 650HP. 3.6litre conversion. All-wheel drive. 0-100 in 3.2 seconds. A 10.8 quarter mile.
Do I have your attention now? ...

All of a sudden it's that time of the year again. The sounds of cars launching on 50+ pounds of boost, the smell of methanol in the air and the feeling of the ground shaking with each pass that's laid down. Jamboree is back in town. This leading Australian drag racing event was originally scheduled to run at the end of August, but due to a rainy forecast it was postponed until this coming weekend. Prior to this weekend's Jamboree, the world's fastest GT-R - the Heat Treatments R32...

This is one of those cars that I've always wanted to see in real life. I have seen so many shots of it before but now it was time to have a closer look. What we are looking at is a MK4 Golf R32 from 2003 that has been built by G-werks . A shop that offer parts for most of the VAG range with some of the world's leading brands available. They even have a small workshop to work on cars and carry out modifications. It seems that they churn out some really outstanding cars that really have a massive...

While I was busy shooting the Midwinter Meeting the guys in the UK had the Ultimate Dubs show. One of the cars there was this MKIV R32 that has been completely revamped. It now rocks 19" Rotiform TMB wheels. I have seen some work from the G-Werks guys before but they really outdone themselves this time. -Jeroen Willemsen

A few days ago, Rod and I made the trip to Abbotsford and spent a day with the Drift Safari crew. We have a couple of articles to bring you, but the main reason for our trip was to shoot Mat Rodger's Skyline drifter for our R32 day. With freezing sub zero winds outside, we tried to shoot as much as we could inside Forced Fed's garage! Mat purchased the Skyline in 2004. A year later he became hooked on drifting, which dictated his R32's destiny. Over the course of a couple of years, his...

In my editorial I wrote about some of the friendships I've forged through meets and car communities. One of the people I crossed paths with years ago was Justin Fox, an Australian graphic designer with a strong passion for cars. He seemed like the perfect fit for our March theme, as not only does he organise monthly meets in Australia, but he also owns an R32 GT-R - perfect for our Skyline festival! The number of cars that have passed through Justin's hands is truly incredible. Each time...

Just spotted this hard looking R32 on the Driftworks forum . It looks like the car has had a hard life and it is even missing a indicator light. But who cares? I love the look with the riveted fenders and tie-wrapped bumper. -Jeroen Willemsen

An amazing shot that Speedhunters reader "Endo X" sent us of his rare Dark Blue Pearl R32 GT-R out in a heavy snow storm.
THIS is why we have AWD!

I hope you guys are taking stock of this ongoing SHIFT2 UNLEASHED conversation we're currently having. I know a lot of you have very strong opinions about what you want to see in the game and are certainly not holding back your thoughts. I completely appreciate your candid comments and it's a fantastic feedback process. In some ways this is a similar process to what happened around the release of Shift1, and the game that we are about to unveil is a direct result of previous conversations...

There's something undeniably cool about a low four-door Skyline built for drifting. When I saw that Kyle Vance sent some photos his four-door R32 from Australia, I had to post it for 32 day. ...

Not sure if this is the real Hasemi Racing Gr.5 Tomica Skyline DR30 or a replica. But it is always cool to see these kind of cars on the circuit doing what they were made for. -Jeroen Willemsen

You just can't have enough coverage of dragsters in action. So when one of our readers, Matevž Rus from Farm Of Minds sent me this video of the R32 Drag-R at Sendai Highland I had to post it !

Quite a few drag Skylines posted here recently eh? Here's one more - a street car owned by Mark Riccioni from the UK. You might remember Mark's guest blog on his previous FD RX7 project. His latest project is this R32 GTR with a single turbo conversion and a dyno-proven 580 wheel horsepower.
After running a 10.90 on the car's third pass down the strip, Mark is looking to get his ET's nto the low 10, high 9 second range - all while remaining totally streetable.
Awesome.

I'm not sure what's in the water on the other side of the hemisphere. But it seems that the New Zealanders and Australians are responsible for some of the fastest Skylines in the world. This R32 belongs to Glen Suckling from New Zealand. It is capable of an 8.02 second runs thanks to it's 2.7 litre 1300bhp engine. Judging by this picture it really jumps off the line but I wouldn't expect any less with 1300BHP on tap. You can't just turn up at a drag strip and think you can pull...

Let's jump straight back into the R's Meeting coverage and take a look at some of the action and cars that participated in the tuner demo run at the end of the day. I'm glad there was some interest on the Auto Gallery Yokohama R32, a car I will be soon dedicating a much needed in depth feature on. I spent a few minutes on the pit wall enjoying the tuned GT-Rs blasting by at well over 150 mph like this Fujimura Auto BNR34. Tuner cars were constantly coming back to the pits for quick checks...

As I was nerding out on GT-R related goodness at R's Meeting last Sunday I heard an announcement over the PA system that the tuner session would be the next event on track. Not wanting to miss anything of importance I decided to stay a little longer in the display area and check out some more cool demo cars and interesting tuning parts... ...while the privateers finished up their last track outing of the day. Phoenix's Power was out to prove they are top dogs when it comes to modifying R35s...
