From rotaries we move onto some S-chassis, but since there weren't that many this year I've decided to combine Fairlady Zs to the post too, once again an all-Nissan selection! We start off with the R.Y.O. S13 "Odyvia" which I already ran a spotlight on back in October , when I first laid eyes on it at the D1 final in Fuji. It's as wild looking from every angle and proof that things down in the south of Japan are done a little differently. You can always expect to find nice rides...

Our 2012 S-Chassis Festival may have been a couple weeks ago, but we are always down for some S-Chassis loving. Check out this stunning shot that Bill Washburn of Dent Sport Garage sent me of his radical S13. The photo was taken by Mike Proulx of World Rally Sport during last year's Mt. Washington Hill Climb. -Mike Garrett ...

What better way to close out our week of S-chassis special features than with this classic Nissan commercial?

This one features Rod and Steve Millen sliding around a pair of brand new '89 240SXs at what looks to be Road Atlanta.

Enjoy!

We had to include the Falken / Discount Tire S13 in our S-Chassis Festival. Few would disagree that this is one of the best set up drift cars in the world, with Mike Kojima and SPD honing it into the 2011 FD championship winner. - Charles Kha Photo by Larry Chen

Happy S13 Day everyone! As expected, there's been a massive amount of emails coming in after our call-out for reader-owned S-chassis cars. Here's the first batch, which includes S13s as well as a couple S12s and even a vintage 240RS. Here we go!...

It's always hard to choose a favorite car because there are so many that fit the bill. The problem is that I do not a have a fixed perception of the perfect car. But I do know that once I see a car I can instantly fall in love with it. That's what happened when I saw the Tra Kyoto S13. I love it for several reasons, one of them being how it changed my view on S13s. It was so different to what I was used to seeing. The Tra Kyoto Silvia is a real game changer and I love it for that. -Jeroen...

I'm certain that any of you familiar with the World Rally Championship will recognise the name 'Kris Meeke'. Asides from being the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Champion, Meeke made his WRC debut last year behind the wheel of the new Mini JCW WRC and scored his first WRC points at Catalunya. Before his rally career went into overdrive, Meeke tried his hand at drifting at the opening round of the 2008 Prodrift Series. Behind the wheel of the WKD Imports RPS13, Meeke, who had never drifted...

Since it's S13 day and we've been asked to select our favorite S13, there was really no way I could pick anything but Yoshinori Koguchi's black 180SX. This car had and still has the perfect style in my eye, and it's made all that much better by Koguchi's talents behind the wheel. This famous clip of him driving at Nikko Circuit just sums it all up.

It also takes you back to a simpler time when the only real way to experience drifting for most of us was through imported Japanese video tapes.

I just wonder how many people went out and bought an S13 after seeing this clip?

OK so I would usually post spotlights after I'm over and done with an event coverage but I just couldn't wait. I just had to show you all this crazy S13 that R.Y.O in Hiroshima built... ...and that was on display in front of the Rays Engineering booth at yesterday's D1 final in Fuji Speedway. These Odyvia conversions are getting pretty popular and while it's nothing new, the execution and detailing sure is. The R.Y.O kit is awesome, widening the S13 considerably for a proper drift...

The definition of a sleeper car can be different depending on who you ask. For some, the exterior has to be completely stock looking. Even the wheels. But underneath the hood an engine with loads of power lurks. When I set off to build this particular 1991 240SX, I knew I wanted to keep it very simple and mild from the outside but enough get up and go to open some eyes....

It's amazing to me how much the RC Drift scene parallels the real drift scene. Some people just want to have fun with their toys, some want their cars to "function" as well as they possibly can. Then there's some, like the people from Team Sling in Japan that just want their RC machines to look sweet. That's where this trio of S13s comes from. -Mike Garrett Found on Team Sling's Minkara page.

It’s three o’clock in the morning. While people with normal jobs are in bed fast asleep or looking at increasingly weird sh*t on the internet and clearing their browser-history afterwards (don’t pretend like you don’t know what we’re talking about), we, however, are instead standing underneath the bright white lights of a Gull service station, cursing our earlier enthusiasm for our cover-shoot idea. “We should shoot the Silvia as a tribute to the famous Rocket...

The Nissan S-chassis is known as one of the most versatile tuning platforms in the world. Whether you are into circuit racing, drifting, drag racing, or anything else - the Silvia can be built to suit. The engine bay of the S-chassis can also accept just about any motor under the sun. We've seen countless V8's, tons of inline sixes, even the occasional rotary swap. This Australian S13 Silvia is sporting one of the most unique powerplants we've seen yet - a turbocharged Honda K20A....

Mortality is a subject many of us try not to think about. The thought of our day-to-day lives coming ending is, quite frankly, an unpleasant one. So, I think its safe to say that many of us wish to somehow be remembered long after we've passed. It's a comforting thought. Inanimate objects such as buildings, and automobiles strangely have that same will to live on forever. No, it's more like we humans want these inanimate things to live on long after they've had their use to us. Think...

When I was in my teens, every year I'd look forward to the six hour drive from Vancouver to Oregon, to watch the G.I. Joes Grand Prix at Portland International Raceway. It was an amazing time for sports car racing in America, with factory entries from Jaguar, Nissan, Toyota, and Ford as well as a host of privateer Porsches. In the support role to the big prototypes were the GTs, which amazingly enough, had enough numbers to run in a totally separate race. The main players back then were the AAR...

Making a car better than it was intended by the makers is hard thing to do. But I have a feeling that Toby Broadfield , the owner of this car, has come very close. The list of things that Toby has done to this car is endless and I can only scratch the surface in this spotlight. So I'll start right away. The first items that caught my eye are the massive Work S1 wheels. They are three piece items in 18"x9.5 +12 at the front and 18"x11 +30 in the rear. The original lug nuts have been...

In light of S-chassis week here on Speedhunters, our resident Silvia and 180SX nut, Matt Malcom dug up quite a selection of classic commercials from YouTube.Whether it's a young Christie Brinkley riding shotgun in a 240SX, or the timeless looks of the Japanese S13 Silvia to the sounds of Procol Harum's "Whiter Shade of Pale", these commercials provide a great look back to the birth of one our favorite cars.

Ah, there's something great about Japanese car commercials.

And a bit of love for the USDM 240SX. Listen to that KA roar!

If I had a Nissan 240SX...

Quite a trip eh?

There is a running joke among some tuners that the RB in the RB25 and RB26 stands for 'Running me broke'. I believe it is one of the reasons why some young speedfreaks prefer the heavier JZ motor swaps over RB. So naturally, when Chris bought this S13 about a year ago and wanted to have some fun with it, that is what we all expected him to do... or maybe even stick with the CA18DET motor that he bought with. After all, Chris does live in Switzerland and it is a country not exactly known for...
