If you look back on the history of Need for Speed games oVER recent years, we have always made a point to become early adoptors of new forms of racing. Drifting for example, was included in Need for Speed Underground as early as 2003, well before this new scene had developed the international following it enjoys today. The first Need for Speed game that I worked on personally, was the 2006 Need for Speed Carbon release. While I didn't have much to do with the overall vision for the game, it was...

Not to be outdone by the Lambo that Linhbergh posted earlier today, the Heffner Ford GT set a new standing mile record at an event in Florida over the weekend. The 1,900hp beast clocked 266.93 MPH.

Absolutely insane. Watch the video and listen to this thing.

A few months back, I was contacted by Texas drifter, Russell Walker. He mentioned that he works at a shop called Boost Logic and that they were planning on going to the Texas Mile with a million-billion horse power Supra that'll do the mile at Bugatti Veyron speeds of 250+ miles per hour. After weeks of correspondence, I flew straight to Texas to see what these horse power hungry nutters were all about. After landing in Austin, I was trucked straight to the shop. And as I entered the shop, I...

Mile events are fast becoming the go-to event for anyone that is willing to stretch the wings on their weekend cars. These events attract people from those with deep pocket, and to the humble weekend enthusiast. So as we gear up for the weekend of sideways action, here's one last look at the Texas Mile. The starting grid is the best place to meet all the drivers and learn about all the different cars that are out there. Underground Racing had its two twin turbo Gallardo's out. Their orange...

We seem to be doing quite a bit of actual speedhunting this month. We already looked at the newest standing mile event, the Mojave Mile. Later this month we will be be in attendance at the Texas Mile. But forget all that for now, the standing mile record for the fastest production car was broken this past weekend in Florida at the Top Gear Run event. The Performance Power Racing Ford GT passed the mile marker at a blistering 252.97 miles per hour! This twin turbo Ford GT did this feat with an estimated 1800 wheel horsepower and an estimated 1475 wheel torque. Mind. Blown.

Check out the video and witness the insane second gear pull and the car wheel spinning all the way to fifth.

The standing mile is fast becoming the next to-do thing in the automotive world. Anyone with a car (or motorcycle) can drive out to these events and open up their cars to speeds they would normally never be able to experience. The West Coast of America never played host to such an event --until now. The Mojave Mile is the first, of what would be many, standing mile events held in the Mojave desert of southern California. It's actually not held in the middle of the desert, but at the Mojave Air...

It's been a while since we have seen a Japanese Supercar on US shores. While we were all excited to see the new Nissan R-35 GT-R, rumors were circulating that this car was so electronically advanced that it could not be modified. Here at AMS we were intrigued by this notion and so was Chuck Hannold of the popular GT-R forum board Nagtroc . As time passed tuners including ourselves have been finding ways to improve the GT-R but Chuck was looking for something more. Chuck established a lofty goal...
