On our trip to the UK earlier this year, I came face to face with a big pink monster. Get any ideas of fuzzy dinosaurs out of your head - I'm talking about a pink R33 Skyline drag monster from Sumo Power, in the UK. This car is very well known in the UK - it's gotten features inked from all the big magazines out there; this R33 has been stirring up quite a bit of attention from its performance numbers and overall impact! The vehicle is a 1994 Nissan Skyline GTR, which was imported from Japan...

At Sumo we're now being selective about our future projects as we don't have as much time on our hands as we used to for special builds and whilst we patiently wait for the official release of the GTR in the UK, we've found ourselves tinkering with something quite unusual and out of the norm as far as Sumo projects go. For the first time ever we'll be producing a car that makes less that 150bhp overall ( I think the least powerful car we've made has been 270bhp! ) and should normally...

I was quite honored to be given the opportunity to shoot this Do-Luck UK Supra at Brooklands , the first motor racing circuit in the world . I've been to more racetracks across the world than most people, but this was a special thing for me. I mean, I was wheeling my stickered-up lens case around, and standing on the first automotive racetrack in the world. In the world! It was quite an experience for me. I walked up the steep bank (that was kind of difficult!) to take different types of photos...

Yes I was in the middle of the drag strip hunched over the camera to get this shot... perhaps not a very intelligent thing to do......

Very well known across Europe, Sumo Power is one of the UK's best known shops catering to Japanese cars. Their Z33 350zed sports wild Do-Luck body work, but it's outfitted with extremely functional parts too! This is the same car they used in the D1GB events in the past, but minus all the decals! This pink Sumo Power 350Z is for sale by the way. Click here for details on the car. Sumo Power's headquarters are inside a huge Victorian-era building at Sheerness docks in Kent, UK! Inside...

This film causes me and the rest of the video dept at NFS pain every time we watch it. The reason being is that a small stone hit the lens of our HD camera while filming this and made a small chip. Luckily you can't see the chip when shooting, but still, it was a really stupid mistake on my part not to put a filter on the lens. Urgh! :...

Fuujin Gets 7.5 second spec cage in preparation for 2008. We've just finished the work to make our Drag GTR ( and current European 4WD record holder ) even more compliant and safe to meet the rules for 7.5 second doorslammer cars. The car was previously spec'd to 8.5 second rules however late last year we started to dip into the lowe 8's with a best of 8.27 @164mph which was the milestone for the next phase of our cars development. Since the inception, the cars purpose is to run quicker...

I am the co-owner of Sumo Power and also the Time Attack Series and European Drift Championship, all 3 of which are based in the UK. In 2002 we started Sumo Power as a main HKS distributor in the UK and we began making cars to show the parts off. Pretty quickly we got deep with how we wanted the cars to be and before long we had an array of cars for different things. We normally name each of our cars to give it character, for instance, Ichiban ( Japanese for No. 1 ), Hercules ( Greek god known for...
