STREET RACING IN ONTARIO CANADA - VERY BAD IDEA-

Street racers and impaired drivers now face stiffer fines and automatic suspensions of their driver's licences.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Ontario government passed Bill 203, which was introduced this April by Transportation Minister Donna Cansfield in hopes of cracking down on dangerous driving.

Under the new law, minimum fines for street racers will rise to $2,000 from the previous minimum of $200, with the maximum increasing from $1,000 to $10,000 — a penalty Cansfield says is the highest in Canada for street racing.

Cars owned by the street racers can also be seized for up to a week.

"This isn't American Graffiti. This is serious and people are dying," said Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant about the tougher penalties.

The bill was passed hours after the sentencing of two men in the death of a Toronto taxi driver that made headlines last year when the duo was accused of street racing.

Well I just thought I would share.

    Here are the hard details.

50km over post speed thats street racing instant loss of licence and car impounded.(possibly crushed)

Squaking the tires or turning to fast is called stunting and local police will call it street racing .

Driving a car that stands out ie after market rims and body kit with system ..you better not fart in front of them..they will have your car taken to a spot check and checked over by M.T.O- they r not nice ..although one cut me some slack with my civic.( I SOLD IT A WEEK LATER)

Anyways i am only warning those visiting the province our cops don't mess around they seem to be enjoyin the new power. They issued over 200 street racing tickets to non racers and racers alike this long weekend.

    I

Save it for the track its more fun and the big bonus is no police to write you up and my fav is no oncoming traffic.

as someone who grew up in ontario his entire life let me say that i do see alot fo street racing around here. Some of what i have seen is pretty dangerous. Car's ont he ontariobhan reaching upwards of 200km/h in heavy trafic. 1 mistake is all it takes. The fines have definatly gotten me to slow down personally. On my my friends brothers just got that $10000 fine a few weeks backs. He wont be driving or owning a car for very long now. Definatly not worth it.

yeah i live in bramton, theres street racign everywhere, but the ones that cause accidents and deaths are the caused by the people who just lineup to a light and see someone and just rip it.

disorganised street racign events are always the ones the cause deaths.

when was the last time you were watching the news and saw that a car crashed during a actual setup street racing event (im not going to name locations for privacy reasons, but im sure since you live in ontario too, you know where all the people go after the tim hortons meetup.

but yeah, theres a lot of idiot drivers out there who think they kno how to drive and end up killing people. the people i kno are serious drivers, sure they have tickets under their name, but in over 10 years of driving at excessive speeds, and not a single accident? thats driving.

but i cant lie, the new laws have detereed a lot of people. a lot of people say its not worth the risk anymore, but not every1 will stop. there will always be street racing. end of story.
