i was watching the 2009 barrett jackson auction on speed and for one thing you can see classic cars go for a high price like one year ago i saw the vary first saturn go fo $70,000 a saturn then the other night i saw a original 1965 shelby cobra sell for $400,000 and thay were expecting it to sell for $700,000 it was the top seller of the hole auction so i got to thinking how can people afford a car like that. so if you have aney auto auction storys reply and shar it

What does it mean when your car starts jerking during acceleration?

my dad has a 03 chrysler pt cruser with 80.000 miles on it and just yesterday it started jerking acceleration and the servise engin light comes on and some times it blinks but when we slow down it stops.is it the fule fillter or the drive tran or the spark plugs what might it be?

New to drifting? What should be the first car? Steps, tehnique and specs.

Hy, I am Chris and I'm a novice drifter myself.

Been drifting some cars... but never really owned one, so now I'm looking to get one of my own. I'd like a Skyline, trouble is that in the country where I'm located at, we drive on the right side of the street and the Skyline was meant for the other side so... Hard to be legit with it. My other choices would be a Silvia S15-S14, Nissan 240SX or BMW other than that... I don't really know... So I've made this post to exchange oppinions, experiences and advices about cars, techniques and specs with other drifting enthuz people out there. All being said, let the discutions begin!! Feedback is very important. Thank you:)

I have seen some of the work that has been done and modifications that have been made on various cars for speed but not a single time have i seen a car dating 1960 ever been taken to the next level and more specificly a 1960 chevy corvair 700 series sedan a car unlike any other the engine rare i might add is mounted in the rear and has a reversed transmission on top of that it only has a max of 80hp and a top speed of 100mph. is there any one who thinks they have wat it takes to transform this classic into a speed demion that could out run a lamborghini gallardo? if there is one person that could pull that off he/she should be concidered to be the greatest enginier in the classic rodder world!!!!!

Shelby GT350 - In my Backyard!

Lucky for me, this guy's ride ended up in my "backyard parking lot." My neighbors were having a surprise birthday party and he invited some people over. I hadn't realized that it was a Shelby until I took a closer look.

Apparently the owner has had it for over 10 years and bought it at an auction. He claims that it's worth over $110,000 and I believe him!

He's taken care of the car well, and has kept everything stock.

While the car sat there, I couldn't let a great photo opportunity get away, so I blocked it in its path and broke out the camera

Here's a couple (yeah, I did spend some time with the first 3 in Photoshop and Lightroom):

Upgrading a AE86, what should come first?

I'm in the market for a car to be used for drifting, I'm thinking of going the corolla GT-S route and I want to know what upgrades should be put on the car first. I'm 17 so as you can imagine I'm on a really tight budget. the purchasing of new parts would be somewhat few and far between. Basically what parts will have the greatest effect on the cars drifting ability with the least effect on my wallet, i.e., what are the bare necessities? Luckily I have access to the auto shop at school so I won't be paying anyone to work on the car for me.

We're delinquents. We all tagged a trashcan off of Freedom Parkway on an overlook. Don't worry, it washes off :)

This garage this year seemed to be full. I lost track of how many cars got fixed both today and yesterday in here ( we did change out 4 fuel pumps on cars ).
Tightening up a wheel bearing.

This 4g63 car got lucky. From what I saw and understand, he was taking the final last turn in the Dragon in 1st, sideways, came back out of it with no power steering. Snapped the alternator bracket ( that was custom made ). Fate was smiling on him when 20 minutes later an empty flatbed came down the dragon ( it was supposed to pickup a car that wasn't there ) so he had a tow-ride to the hotel.

Time attack and European Drift Championship @ Knockhill, Scotland

Hi all

Thought i would stick up a few pictures from sundays Time attack and European drift championship at knockhill race circuit in Scotland to show you how we do it ;) it was the second round of the Time Attack and EDC no pictures of the drift action on track sadly as it was mobbed around the judging zone and I was being lazy... The drifting was won by an R33 with a small block chevy motor in it, though the biggest cheers were for e30 bmw "tramp drifer" which i have heard cost him £60 to build but im not sure if thats just the usual paddock rumors but even with a cheap under powered car he made up for it with complete lunacy. Fastest car of the day was the Roger Clark Motorsport Impreza which has to one of the best time attack cars anywhere in the world 700+ bhp, sequential gear box, dymag carbon/magnesium wheels, wrc spec suspension it took top honers with a lap time of 52.1 seconds. Now on to the pictures nothing fancy taken on a fuji s7000 auto settings, I will put 2 links at the end for the edc and time attack official gallerys for any one that wants to see proper pictures of the day.

The Visual Assault, Dent Sport Garage RASpec Impreza

Introduction
The "RASpec" Impreza is a 2004 WRX that will be campaigned in various road race motorsports such as time attack, hillclimb and SCCA club racing. The car will be built primarily to SCCA ITE-class specifications. This car is a build in-progress. Target finished date is July 5th to compete in its first time trial event on july 7th and 8th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The car will be built as a track car, with performance, reliability, realistic budget, ease of maintenance and parts availability in mind. Major work and tuning will be handled by Dent Sport Garage with more simple aspects being done by myself and others.

Some have called this the "NASIOC Built" car, because many of the parts were sourced from folks on NASIOC, who will be thanked in the future in this thread. Some folks believe the car may be cursed due to some major components coming from wrecked cars. Good thing i don't believe in such nonsense.

Overview
This car has been heavily inspired by WRC cars, track raced WRXes, and some of the Japanese campaigned time attack cars. Specifically I've been keeping a keen eye on the Japanese endurance series Super Taikyu Imprezas' as campaigned by HPI Racing and Fujitsubo, and the Prova / Tomei / Arise Impreza time attack car usually seen lapping Tsukuba.

The fundamentals of the car will be focused on the JDM EJ207 block stroked with the Tomei 2.2l stroker kit complete with pistons, rods and the lightened, custom journaled crankshaft. The heads are JDM Spec-C heads with the large ports, and factory polished. The engine will be fed with a Garrett GT3076r turbo with a 0.82 A/R. The cage is built to SCCA ITE specifications. Suspension is on Cusco Zero2E coilovers on 17x9 rims.

the M3 and the Bike have changed a little looks wise. bike now has a slip-on, smoked windscreen and a few other things i can't think of. the M3 has M6 rims blacked out led tail lights and prob a few other things i can't remember. thank you for looking.

So, excuse my ignorance, but why the *** is there tape on on so many car's headlights, turn signals and blinkers, fog lights, etc.? It's not a fashion statment, I assume. Is it part of the event to mark or distinguish cars? To seal any cracks? I need to know. Heh.
