I raced motocross pretty heavily from 16-20. At age 18 I got my first of over ten 240sx's I have owned. I would spend every dollar I had just burning tires down, powerslides donuts and just fun driving with it. I then learned of drifting and found my true love and passion. I worked my IT job to support my drifting habit and here I am living a dream drifting for a living. I have always loved fast cars and motocross. In the last 6 years of being heavily into drifting I have also become interested in V8 supercar racing and time attack as well as the Mustang challenge series and hope to test myself in those events as well
Personal style: Well used jeans, t-shirts and DC shoes < that's me.
Favorite band of the moment: It is absolutely impossible for me to name that...Motley crue, old AFI, Rise against, Hellacopters

Here is a sweet video of Ryan Tuerck tearing it up in his street car I wanted to share. It was shot and edited by Andy Laputka. That is one huge snapping turtle!!!

The Mustang RTR-C is simply a far-fetched dream of mine that came true thanks to the hard work and dedication from everyone that I teamed up with for the project. While it started as a one-off SEMA project and a sick street car for me to rock, it has spawned into something much bigger and has turned into the inspiration of me wanting to create the more affordable Mustang RTR and the overall RTR brand. My initial vision was pretty simple, I wanted to build the most badass modern Ford Mustang street...

While Linhbergh was in Charlotte shooting the Mustang RTR and RTR-C last week, we stopped by Autosport Dynamics where we were able to check out the shell of my new competition car. The Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang chassis had just arrived from paint. Here is a picture of me getting acquainted with my new car for the first time. Something is so cool to me about seeing a freshly painted bare chassis. Anyone agree? - Vaughn Gittin Jr.

The PRI show held every December in Orlando, Flordia is a must-see for all hardcore builders and drivers. It is the SEMA Show of the Performance Industry. While there are some amazing cars on display, the show is more focused on peformance parts available to build your dream street machine or full-blown race car. I have been attending the PRI show for the last few years to keep up on products available, as well as attend some meetings with sponsors. Not to mention getting out of cold Maryland in...

NEWS FLASH!!!!!! Chris Forsberg, Tony Angelo, Ryan Tuerck and I decided to build a crap-box 240SX for the 24 Hour of LeMons at Thunderhill Raceway. Our theme: The Channel 4 News Team from the Anchorman movie. Not only did we build a crap-box news car, but we built it in three days, minus the cage that Justin Pawlak fabbed up at "Hotline" for us. The mini Batmobile! Even Barbie came out to play. The Mario Brothers car. Doot doot doot da doot doooot dooot. Here is our machine in all its glory...

This past weekend I went to what will be my final event of the year; Drift Nirvana's 100 Drifters of December at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. Going to grassroots drift events is one of my favorite things to do. I try to get out to as many as my schedule allows each year, which recently has not been enough! I was so excited leading up to this event - I couldn't sleep for like two days beforehand. Why you ask? Well I had the opportunity to get back to my roots and have an all-out...

Like a proud father, I am very happy to introduce a new generation of the Ford Mustang - the Mustang RTR. I have dreamt this vision in my head for years; unfortunately, it has taken so much time for me to find the right people to help take the vision from my head to paper, then to the actual prototype phase that you see here. It sounds a lot easier then it really is - trust me! I fell in love with the Mustang in late 2004 and, as most of you know, we have been inseparable since. The Ford Mustang...

Here is the sneak peak I promised you all. This is the first-ever public picture of the extremely limited production Mustang RTR-C, the halo of the RTR brand. It is a one-hundred percent dry carbon Mustang for the street, which features in-car adjustable shocks, 550 horsepower, and carbon fiber HRE wheels. Only ten of these cars will be made. The car will first be seen at the SEMA Show this year where it will be on display at the Ford booth all week. I will do a feature on the car here on Speedhunters...

The RTR-C was the inspiration to create the Mustang RTR, which is basically a toned-down version that offers similar looks without the carbon or the serious performance gains. The reason I chose Autosport Dynamics (ASD) in Charlotte, NC to build the RTR-C is due to their attention to detail and complete understanding of my vision. I wanted a Mustang that was simply untouchable and was a work of art; all the way from the carbon fiber HRE CF40's, to the way that the weave of the carbon lines up...

If you are halfway into drifting, then you have heard of Drift Alliance Ace Brian Wilkerson and his infamous Zombie car. The car was given the name after a serious smash into a wall at the 2007 D1GP in Englishtown when Brian let it all hang out in a battle against Imamura. He let it hang a bit too much and got bit by the wall - a wall that showed no mercy and immediately transformed the beautiful Cassius Red S13 into none other then a Zombie. Like most of us drifters, he didn't care that the...

Even though Formula D has come to an end for the year and is a huge relief for many, the next five days are full of suspense, insanity and excitement for me, as I get ready to introduce my dream that will become a reality in a big way at SEMA. A new generation of Mustang will be introduced to the world - the Mustang RTR which will be a dealer-installed performance and appearance package available at select dealers in 2010. Official introduction to be posted here next Tuesday. If you will be at SEMA...

Here is a video that Ken Block sent me this morning of himself and fellow rally driver Chris Atkinson having some fun in Ken's 1978 Ford Escort. Under the hood sits a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Millington engine that boasts 280 BHP. It also is setup with WRC-styled paddle shifting and a six-speed sequential gearbox. I think this video does an incredible job of capturing the definition of fun!

Since it seems to be BMW month here, I thought it was fitting to post my friend 's car. He went a bit crazy on his wheel fitment; so crazy in fact that his rear fender polished his wheel for him. I figured some of you would love this thing. I respect the BS he puts up with to drive it with that stance, but I wouldn't want it to be me!! Enjoy the pictures! - Vaughn Gittin Jr.

I had the incredible opportunity to drift Road America during a vintage race and it was awesome. Here is a video documenting the fun that was had by all! Drifting the carousel was for sure the highlight of the day. I think it's the first time anyone has been allowed to do it??
Another highlight was taking former F1 driver Brian Redman for a ride. He absolutely fell in love with drifting and after the event I got a call that he wanted to learn how. How’s that for love towards “just wasting rubber”?

I know this is a bit out of the "norm" for the Speedhunters site, but I thought it was too cool not to share! Some friends of mine over at Motorsports Management International - my management firm - have been building an over the top ¼-scale replica of the first NASCAR championship car from 1948. The team name, Parks Novelty Machine, is named after the original car owner, Raymond Parks, and the sponsor of this 1939 Ford V-8 modified stock car. They started with some foam! After multiple...

Last month I was asked to be part of an exhibition at the Oshkosh EAA Air Venture called "Wings Vs. Wheels". I think the pictures that came out are simply amazing so I had to share them with everyone on here! Carroll Shelby sure enjoyed me beating on his GT500, almost as much as I did! The things that come out of his mouth are hilarious; he is a super cool guy. Upon arriving all I knew was that I would be driving a 2010 Shelby GT500 as fast as it would go down a huge runway with a plane...

This past weekend in Vegas was a painful one full of bad luck... literally. Thursday night during practice I was on fire right off the trailer. The 2010 Falken Tire Ford Mustang was incredible and I was feeling great. But Friday's practice had other plans for me. On my first run I knew the track was slick as it was like 50 degrees hotter then the prior evening. I entered at about 70% just to get a feel of the course, and unfortunately, the car just wouldn't transition back from the feint entry. I did everything I could to keep it out of the wall but it just grew legs and came right out at me and bit the corner of the Mustang right off. Thanks to the team's dedication and preparation, ASD and Team Falken were able to get the car fixed within 2 hours and get me out to qualifying. Driving the track in my head all day paid off as I nailed my first qualifying run, considering the circumstances, and was in for Saturday.
Saturday we were on fire once again - that course entry was insane and fun. I ran Kenji in top 32 which was fun, and then I was up against JTP in the round of 16. Once again my bad luck in Vegas would put me out of the event as we picked up some debris in the back lot which caused the front right tire to flatten on the entry of second run. I kept it out of the wall but spun while fighting it. Check out the video of my hit from practice - definitely the hardest of my career - after watching this video I feel pretty lucky. The wheel seems to have taken most of the impact which is why I think I got off so easy.
Check out this preview of the drifting in Need for Speed Shift. Aside from my car being in the game, I have been very involved in the game development. I have been working on this behind the scenes with the developers for about a year, it has been so hard to keep my mouth shut. I have over 100 hours in developing and adjusting the drifting physics for this game and I am confident to say it is the most realistic drifting to date and you can actually feel it really good using a controller.
Our challenge was to make it accessible to everyone - from an 8 year old used to playing arcade-type games all the way to a pro driver; we accomplished that goal with the different modes. If you approach the game like your actually driving a car and not like your playing a game, you will get the hang of it real quick. I have been a SIM gamer for years and I have never enjoyed a game with a controller until now. I am very happy with what we have been able to accomplish and am excited for everyone to be able to feel it when it comes out September 15th. The graphics are insane and the in-car view is my absolute favorite.

The weekend before Formula Drift Round 3, I went out to East Coast Bash. It was an incredible two-day event. We even had an incredible dance party! I love "grassroots" events like this. The vibe defines drifting and is the reason why I got into the sport! Here are some of my favorite shots from the event. Special thanks to Dan Jenkins for the pictures! The one and only Matt Petty. B-Dub John Wagner never lifting! This dude street drives this car daily. It has a 2J in it. Angerman (SP?)...

We joined the "Mustang's Across America" tour after picking up this sweet 2010 GT500 at a local dealership in Oklahoma. The caravan of over 600 Mustangs was heading to the 45th Mustang Anniversary at Barber Motorsports Park. It was a great time and I will definately be doing the tour every five years as long as my schedule allows. More of this to follow. Keep in mind this is Barber's personal collection... we all need to be dairy farmers. MOOOOOOOOOOOO! The very first prototype...
