Bryn Alban'S BIO

Name: Bryn Alban

Location: West Wales, UK

Career Path: Slightly Mad Studios - Vehicle Artist

Previous Career Paths: Qualified engineering graduate with a BEng. Hons. Degree in Automotive Engineering Design. Worked at Mitsubishi Ralliart Europe with the WRC team.

Notable Projects/Wins: Worked on the 2004 WRC Lancer Evolution, some of the parts I designed were seen from the onboard cameras, notably the drivers and co-drivers carbon monitor surrounds. Worked on the critically acclaimed racing simulation games GTR, GTR2 and GT Legends.

Cars: Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, Nissan Skyline R32 GTSt, Nissan Skyline Bee*r R324 (w.i.p), BMW E30 Touring (w.i.p)

Car Passions: I've always been into cars, ever since watching cars pass the window of my aunts house on the Welsh Coast when I was 3. My father got me involved in cars and I was always interested in seeing him work on them at his own garage when I was growing up. I raced karts from the age of 8 to 12 and competed against the likes of Gary Paffett and Dan Wheldon. Once funds dried up for the karting I switched to racing RC cars and built several different cars during the 4 years I raced them. School commitments took over and I studied to gain my place at University to become an engineer or car designer, a dream I'd had ever since I could remember. University taught me a lot and gave me the opportunity to work at Mitsubishi Ralliart Europe, 15 months I'll never forget. Whilst at university I became involved in the art of racing game modding and was asked to join a fledgling company producing their first commercial product, later to be known as GTR. The rest as they say is history, I'm still in the industry working on bigger and better products. In my spare time during the last 4 years I keep myself busy working on my own cars and trying to put together some of the best performance cars to come out of Wales in a long time, this is still ongoing to this day.

Personal Style: I don't know, I don't really have a definitive style, smart casual(ish)

Personal Motto: Make everything as badass as possible.

Seeing that we're in the middle of a month for all things stanced and flush I thought I'd share a snap that was taken of my newly finished Bee*r B324R drift car. This snap was taken late in the day during a recent British Drift Championship licensing day at Llandow circuit in South Wales. I've affectionately nicknamed this car the Yellow Banana and it has gone through quite a transformation in my 11months of ownership, more so over the last couple of weeks. Note a little historical token...

So in short, my name is Bryn Alban, I'm a keen amateur drifter from Wales, UK and I've been following the drift scene for around 5 years now. My day job is a 3D Vehicle Artist which is how I've gotten to know Rod. I'm currently working at Slightly Mad Studios on...
