As its St Patricks day its only right we should feature a Irish driver to mark the occasion. Dublin based Danni Murphy is now in her 3rd year of competitive drifting was the first and so far only woman to have been granted a pro license in Ireland -backing up her licensing performance with consistent top 16 qualifying in her first 3 Prodrift Ireland events. She's now here in the UK making her mark as one of the up-and-coming stars of UK drifting. Danni made her UK debut in the 2009 BDC semi pro...

If you are a follower of the Time attack series, you cannot have failed to notice the be-winged Lotus Elise of Steve Guglielmi. In amongst the myriad of Japanese machinery, the little British sports car has proved more than a match for the huge horsepower Japanese saloons. Winning by a massive 1.5 seconds at Brands Hatch and being no more than a fraction of a second off the top step of the podium in every other round of 2009. Steve was kind enough to give me a few hours of his time and give the low...

When Rod asked me to put together my best photos from 2009 i really didn't know where to start. With thousands of images to choose from i decided to keep it simple and choose shots that may not be technically perfect but mean something to me and remind me of some of the great times throughout 2009. Nigel Colfer JDM Allstars. Wembley London, UK. accuracy is everything! They asked the drivers to get as close to the rear clipping point as possible...Nigel delivered! Greg Gush BDC British open Llandow...

Its been a very busy year here in the UK drift wise, 3 top level championships all hotly contested all coming down to the wire to reveal the 3 respective champions. It all kicked off back in April with JDM Allstars Newcastle. Set right on the quayside the tight technical 'street' style track produced some jaw dropping driving straight from the off.. ..If you wanted to score big you had to run the wall! Two drivers stood out from the off Dan Chapman and Remo Niezen. scything through the top...

To finish of the 2009 coverage of the Need for Speed European Drift Championship, a quick look behind the scenes at Snetterton. After destroying aN engine back at Brands Hatch, Alan Mccord was back in the LS2 S15.. ..But with a little added surprise under the bonnet.. as if the LS2 wasn't powerful enough already, the addition of a dirty great supercharger boosting the power to 630hp, made sure it was now. Steve Will's fairly stock looking M3 with added turbo powers. It had been a very long...

Well ok its not a Plymouth Valiant or a Peterbilt 281 and it didn't quite end with the carnage of the 1971 movie, but after watching Phil Morrison twinning with the 1000hp ERF race truck i just couldn't get the movie out of my head. Defiantly the most surreal thing i have seen all year. Ross I'Anson

After a long summer break, the NFS-EDC circus arrived at Snetterton in Norfolk of the grand finale of the 2009 season. With the title still within reach of 3 people, NFS-EDC round 5 had all the makings of event of the year. The Coram section of Snetterton has not been used for a drift event for a good few years and I for one had forgotten just how spectacular it is. A very top end of 4th gear entry into the right hand Coram curve was followed by 95mph+ run down the hill into a temporary chicane then...

Anyone who has been to a round of the JDM Allstars championship this year could not help to notice the sister Falken V8 E30s of Remmo Niezen and Lars Verbraeken, providing a welcome break to the endless list of Japanese machinery the Dutch pair have provided the bass to the screaming external waste gates of the championship.. Lars' E30 is the more subtle of the pair looking not that far removed from an E30 evolution.. ..the dash retains the shape BMW intended but recreated in carbon fiber, the...

When Rod asked me to feature a UK car for AE86 day it left me thinking "whats a bit different and true UK inspired Toyota Corolla?"...It had to be Nev Paynes drift AE86. I shot this car a few years back for its original owner and back then it was very clean fresh out of the box AE86 , Nev has had the car a few years now and wow has it changed! Still in brilliant white but now wearing CBY arches and skirts and sitting on Schmidt rims it looks like a totaly different car, the suspension is...

For my final installment from Wembley we are going behind the scenes looking at the set up and execution of the event. The build actually started on the Monday and a call from JDM Allstars inviting me down to have a look at the planned track was too good a opportunity to turn down, as its a fairly local event for me i joined the enormous car park surrounding London better known as the M25 and went down to see what was in store. Team Japspeed drivers Steve Biagioni and Shane Lynch were already on...

Bright and early Sunday morning i arrived back at JDM Wembley for the main event and if the previous days qualifying session was anything to go by this was going to be the event of the season so far. A few of the cars had sprouted new decals and appendages in preparation for the days competition, after a fantastic qualifying performance Brad (lightning) Mcqueen's new bumper sticker was still intact...for how long it would remain that way was was yet to be seen.. ..as was Peter Barbers "soft...

In 2008 JDM Allstars made history by hosting the first ever drift event in London, in 2009 they were back to do things bigger and better. Shooting a new track always makes me a little apprehensive as you never really know what to expect, however all fears disappeared as soon as i saw the venue, the round was to be held in one of Wembley's immaculate car parks so smooth grippy tarmac and a fast and flowing track all with Wembley stadium as a back drop and 50 of the best drivers in Europe, defiantly...

For the final instalment for NFS-EDC round 5 its a look behind the scenes at the goings on in and around the Santapod paddock. New to the NFS-EDC collective is Martin Ffrench driving the revamped Dragon Performance RX7, basically the same car he ran in JDM Allstars Newcastle but looking totally different in the new pink and black livery. The British summer time made waiting for the drivers briefing a miserable affair. After another engine failure in his R32 Gary Hughes was in a Borrowed AE86, great...

From the super fast sweeping turns of Brands Hatch to the tight and technical custom made Santapod track, round 5 of the NFS-EDC championship could not be more different to all of the previous rounds. 8am and the British summer time played its trump card and delivered a mix of drizzle and heavy showers of rain making conditions a little tricky. Designed by head judge Maz the track consisted of a fast sweeping righthander forcing the drivers out to the wall for the following hairpin then into a technical...

Brands Hatch.. the place where nothing is close! if you miss your window to cross the track your in for a 20 minute walk back to the drift paddock, i dread to think how many miles i must have walked on Sunday but my legs are feeling it now. 7.30 in the morning and the track was just starting to recover from the prevous nights biblical storm that had pelted the NFS-EDC staff with bullet sized hail stones as they were setting up the track, the whole track was surrounded by a low lying mist giving a...

NFS-EDC Round 4 Brands Hatch was always going to be a bit special, a few drivers had driven demos here in the past but round 4 was going to be the first time that the historic Brands hatch circuit was to be used for a championship event so very few people including myself really knew what to expect, 10am sharp the first practice session started and the drivers put in a few tentative sighting laps to see exactly what they were up against but it wasn't long before Mark Luney in the SVA 350z and...
