To kick off the start of Team Need for Speed's FIA GT3 season, here's a look back at their 1st place run at the Dubai 24h race earlier this year. Hopefully this video sheds some light on what it's like to literally race around the clock, and is backed by an Ekstrak score. The TNFS Z4 GT3 dominated in Dubai, and I'm excited to see how the new improved Z4 does this season!

While following Team Need for Speed's European GT3 program we also had the opportunity to shoot FIA GT1 and to document SUMO Power's inaugural season. Along with Rod, I attended three races: Silverstone, Paul Ricard, and Algarve. The scene above is from Marsielle, France, a short drive from Paul Ricard. While the paddock at Silverstone was my first time seeing the SUMO car in person. The engine and exhaust note are unlike any other GTR I'd ever heard - since it's twin turbo V6 has...

Hello! It's Will Roegge, Speedhunters filmmaker - with the latest speedhunters video project for your consumption. Over the summer, I posted a prompt and asked for your questions to Team Need for Speed: Matt Powers, Mad Mike Whiddett, Edward Sandstrom, and Patrick Soderlund. After going through your questions and selected a few to ask to the drivers. Combine that with unseen footage from FIA GT3 in Algarve, Portugal and Team Need for Speed - Drift at East Coast Bash and Formula Drift. Fresh out...

Team Need for Speed Drift wrapped up the 2010 Formula Drift season at Irwindale Speedway with both Matt Powers and Mike Whiddett making the top 16. Since the "Introducing Team Need for Speed - Drift" video in July - we've been following Matt and Mike at Seattle, Las Vegas, Sonoma, and finally Irwindale. Instead of releasing a film for each round, as a re-cap, we've created a mash up combining two different view points into a original crazy composition. DJ Miki Taka has been doing...

With Formula Drift Irwindale a little over eight days away, here is a look back at round six in Sonoma. Team Need for Speed drivers, Matt Powers and Mad Mike Whiddett let me record their practice runs. FD Sonoma was a challenging event for drivers, like Matt and Mike, who had previously not driven the track. With short practice sessions, drivers had to make the most of each run to familiarize themselves with the high speed right hand entry. Its fascinating to me to compare practice driving styles between the two drivers. What do you notice?

See you at Irwindale.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The "eh" team would win the first PGP Wars triple tandem competition with light speed entries and a few epic dirt drops. This story begins in Vancouver, British Columbia, where I have been living for the past month as a temporary Canadian. CJ Kofoed, also know as simply "CJ" or "CJ of the Mattely Crue", invited me down to PGP Motorsports Park in Kent, Washington for a triple tandem drift comp. CJ, also a temporary Canadian...

"Speedhunting, is a verb" - the act of hunting speed. Have you ever wondered who is responsible for the photography, reporting and creativity behind Speedhunters? What its like to be in the action of an FIA GT race? Or a jersey barrier away from Vaughn Gittin JR drifting in Formula Drift? I've turned the lens on the speedhunters that bring you global car culture on the daily. This is a behind the scenes look... ...at the FIA GT races at Paul Ricard with Jonathan Moore. ...at international...

At Formula Drift Seattle, Mad Mike Whiddett had a very close battle with Sam Hubinette in the Top 32. Mike was laying down consistent runs at Evergreen Speedway the whole weekend - like this practice run following Joon Maeng's RX8.

With in-car footage we get a look into a driver's inputs and technique. Notice the headphone cable extending from Mike's helmet - he mentioned to me that Seattle was the first Formula Drift event that he listened to music while driving. Check out this interesting glimpse into Mad Mike Whiddett's driving - captured with my Contour HD camera. Maybe it was his playlist, but Seattle brought out the best tandem driving I've seen from Mike this season.

In 2009, I worked with Rhys Millen to create a short film, Climb Attack, which documented his Time Attack 2WD class - record setting Pikes Peak run. This year, 2010, I had the honor of working with Jeff Zwart as he campaigned a Porsche GT3 Cup at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Jeff smashed the Time Attack 2WD record set by Rhys in 2009 with a time of 11:31.095. Enjoy the finished short film -GT3 Climb.

Team Need For Speed - Drift is comprised of Formula Drift drivers: Mad Mike Whiddett and Matt Powers. The two drivers bring a unique perspective on professional drifting and equally unique drift machines. Mike's performance at the Red Bull World Drifting Championships caught my attention as a filmmaker; the note of the quad rotor Mad Bull Mazda FD RX7 is one I won't soon forget. Matt's fourth place finish at Formula D Irwindale 2009 also comes to mind - as I watched him transform from...

During the FIA GT 1 qualifying race at Paul Ricard, Sumo Power's twin Nissan GTRs dueled in a Godzilla grudge match. Mind you, this is still the qualifying race - not Saturday or Sunday's main event. Sumo car number #23, leading, was suffering from understeer. While #22, following, attempts to overtake its struggling twin. The in car footage gives you a perspective on the long straights and hair pins at Paul Ricard. Clip courtsey of SRO/FIA GT1.

After setting a new record with his qualifying run, Jeff Zwart won the Time Attack class with a time of 11:31.095 at the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. Beating the previous record, set by Rhys Millen in 2009 in his Hyundai Genesis.

A Canon 5D Mark II was rigged over Jeff's shoulder to capture the run. The recording length limit on the Canon DSLRs in video mode is 12 minutes. We joked that Jeff had to run under 12 minutes or else we wouldn't be able to capture his entire run. I pushed record seconds before his start and Jeff had recording time to spare at the top with his 11 minute dash. Watch from the cockpit as his Porsche GT3 Cup screams up the hill.

At the FIA GT3 race at Jarama, Team Need For Speed driver Edward Sandström had a crash during Saturday practice. Thanks to an in-car camera, we can witness the crash in this video. Edward tries to compensate for the oversteer, but ends up spinning into the wall - loosing his trunk and hood in the process.

This weekend, we are in the south of France at Paul Ricard for the next round of FIA GT/GT3. Stay posted this weekend for updates from the track.

Be sure to check out Jonathan Moore's coverage of FIA GT3 at Jarama.

This weekend is FIA GT3 at Paul Ricard and next weekend is Formula Drift Seattle. Two weekends of speedhunting and events with team Need For Speed drivers: Patrick Soderlund, Edward Sandstrom, Mad Mike Whiddett, and Matt Powers. We will be fliming and want to use your questions for the interviews. Ever wonder what its like to be behind the wheel of a BMW Z4 GT3 or ride the wall at Seattle? Post your question in the comments and we'll ask Team Need For Speed. Your question might end up being in...

While Linhbergh was shooting stills of the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb - I was filming a short on 2WD Time Attack Class competitor Jeff Zwart. During Friday qualifying Jeff set a new qualifying record in his Porsche GT3 Cup of 5:01.642 (bottom third).

This quick video is from the in-car camera from the run and the sound of the naturally aspirated Porsche flat six is raw. For the hill climb the 997 was setup with shorter gears - so there is plenty of shifting through the paved to gravel lower section. Enjoy the sounds, impressive driving, and scenery as you ride shotgun with Jeff Zwart in his Porsche GT3 Cup.

This is the first Team Need For Speed film for 2010. It highlights Patrick Soderlund and the Team Need For Speed FIA GT3 team at the first races of the 2010 GT3 season - Silverstone. We were all eager for the first races on the new Silverstone configuration and first laps of the new BMW Z4 GT3 in competition. Personally, I was excited to shoot under the cloudy skies of the English countryside and witness my second FIA GT race. When we arrived at Silverstone, Linhbergh and I set straight away to shooting...

When I learned that May was going to have a "drives" and "roadways" themed week - I laughed. Only a week? That's not nearly long enough on the road. As of today, Josh "Hobo" Herron and I have been on the road for over a month and a half. Pushing, literally at times, our 1974 Volkswagen Van across the United States. In my first post, I highlighted the grassroots drifting scene in the Southwest part of the US. This time, I want to give you a look into the South East...

Circle and dirt track racing is something that I had never experienced until the end of last year - when USAC had me come out to a Sprint Car race. The action is crazy: 800 horsepower, fire breathing, dirt ripping machines bombing around a dirt oval - that feels inadequate to contain such speed and power. The cars were three wheeling through the corners, pulling wheelies down the straights, and kicking up so much dirt that the walls had to be scraped clean between heats. Insane.

Windows down, slight breeze, cooler than expected for the Mojave desert, behind the school bus-sized wheel of my 1974 Volkswagen Van I left California and entered Nevada. After Formula Drift Long Beach, I loaded all of my possessions that didn't fit a suitcase into a storage locker and hit the road. The road to shoot my first feature length documentary - on grassroots drifting in the United States. Along with Joshua Herron, we planned to be on the road for five months. Following the 2010 Formula...

I love challenges. Where there is doubt, I find inspiration. This past January, we traveled to UAE to film a team driving a car for 24 hours straight, in a field of 75 plus cars, in the desert, in the grandest city in the world - Dubai. Having never filmed an endurance race, I was looking forward to the challenges presented by the event. The Audi documentary Truth in 24 had just beaten my short film Climb Attack for an award, so it was time to see if I could hang with the competition. At the Dubai...
