Napoleon Bonaparte, a man who conquered most of Europe during his prime, knew a thing or two about warfare. However, being a pragmatist at heart he declared "I do not want a good General, I want a lucky one". That expression could easily serve as a motto for the 2010 Sebring 12 Hours. Several parties used their 'get out of jail free card'
"Blow,Winds and crack your cheeks! Rage! Blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout til you have drenched our steeples, drown'd the cocks!" I did not actually see King Lear out in the storms that hit Road Atlanta during the middle of the Petit Le Mans last Saturday but I saw plenty of candidates for the role of the Fool, me for one. Sitting
" A Rainy Night in Georgia, A Rainy Night in Georgia, It seems like it's Raining all over the World" We had dodged the monumental thunderstorms for most of the day but eventually the monsoon hit Road Atlanta and turned the track into a lake in places. The lightning was also an issue as no one wanted corner workers and other personal working
Amongst the Speedhunters on site at the Petit Le Mans, I've been designated the press room worker. So while John Brooks and Linhbergh were off shooting the race, I've been sitting here watching the Speed TV feed and listening to Radio Le Mans. Out the window I can see one corner of the track, but I might as well be in my living room as I'm
We'd like to congratulate the four class winners from the 2009 12 hours of Sebring, no doubt one of the most grueling motorsports challenges on the planet. First in the P1-class went to the number 2 Audi driven by the all-star cast of McNish, Kristensen and Capello, in what must be a dream debut for the R15. The lone surviving P2 finisher was the
Earlier this week, famed Sportscar author Janos Wimpffen presented the epic battle of Sebring 1970 , one of the most famous runnings of this Florida endurance classic... well it appears that we have another story for the history books. At the seven(ish) hour mark, the top two cars are separated by only 1.6 seconds, with the Peugeots and the Audis perfectly
You may have noticed, we are fans of the American Le Mans Series here at Speedhunters! The 2009 season kicks off this weekend at Sebring in Florida. We have John Brooks out in his natural habitat, at the track, so stay tuned for more images and stories over the next few days and have already posted a number of articles this month. We also introduced
The ACO released the provisional entry list for the 2009 24 Heures du Mans this morning. The ACO choose which entries to accept, based, mainly upon performances in the previous 24 Hour races, European and American Le Mans. 82 entries were received for 55 places. The full list is available here , but I’ll just highlight a few of the cars to look
The Eleventh running of the 1000 Mile Petit Le Mans resulted in a classic Audi-Peugeot-Audi battle in the last half of the race. Andrew Jennings was at Road Atlanta taking these fantastic images for us. There was drama even before the race had started. 2nd place starter Allan McNish lost control on a warm-up lap and spun his Audi R10 TDi into the barriers
Wow, that was a great qualifying session! Just like a sprint race. Allan McNish put in some really quick times early in the Qualifying session earlier this afternoon and with five minutes to go the Audi Engineer told Allan he could come in to the pits, his pole position was safe... However,,,,as Allan was exiting his car, Stephane Sarrazin took pole
