After spending some time in Ebisu circuit the other day shooting some drift cars I realized the lack of drift events in this "off-season" is getting to me. I always complain I cover too much drifting during the year but I'm experiencing some rubber-smoke withdrawal symptoms. So I thought it would be a good time to take a look at the other

It's always interesting to see how passion can push people to create very unique cars, and this Miata from Italy is the perfect example. The owner and avid reader of Speedhunters, Filippo Pirini, has been working on his little Mazda for 3 years and plans to have the car ready in the next year or so. Filippo will compete in one of the Italian drift

If you were wondering what video I was talking about in my Retrospective about Taniguchi, this is it, shot by a couple of friends of his that really struggled to keep up with him! -Dino Dalle Carbonare

I don't know about you but I'm the kind of guy that gets way too attached to things, especially cars. This is probably why I had a hard time seeing cool JDM drift cars get voluntarily smashed up at Ebisu this past weekend. Sure they are on their last leg, but the optimist in me always sees the potential in a car, after all everything can be

Ebisu circuit truly is a magical place. You could see it this past weekend at the Matsuri where the drifters were like kids in a candy store. Most wanted to sample all that the compound has to offer from the scary wall at the Minami course, to the blind crest at the Nishi short-course and the fast and more grip oriented Higashi. I was driving back and

It was back up to Ebisu circuit this past weekend for me, to cover the summer installment of the legendary Drift Matsuri, but little did I know the 48-hours of non-stop drifting would be joined by 48-hours of non-stop rain! Everyone there got soaked down to their underwear and socks but even the damp conditions didn't stop people from having fun

The rain-soaked action from the D1 Divisional in Mobara continues with this opening shot from one of the tsuiso battles. Baby blue? For a drift car? Why not...this JZX100 was definitely getting the attention it deserved! I think this might have been the only time that Bomber Yamamoto wasn't on the mic! He literally keept a running commentary throughout

A couple of days before I got a call from Rod telling me I had to meet up with him in Italy for a last minute Speedhunting trip, I was getting soaked in Mobara. The event? D1 Divisional, where aspiring drifters compete to get the sought after points needed to certify for a D1 Street Legal license. For me these are the events that best represent the

I woke up this morning in a confused state, not having the faintest idea where I was. Looking around I soon realized I was back home in Japan, and after being here less than 24 hours I knew I had to get up and get myself down to Odaiba for the D1 Tokyo Drift Exhibition. After the Italian Speedhunting trip, I was beginning to miss the JDM side of things

I think the opening shot of this girl checking over her R32's rear tires perfectly represents this past Sunday's event at Nikko. All the ladies were out to impress and they sure as hell didn't hold back. To give everyone a chance, the competition was divided into three groups: beginners, intermediate and the experts. This HCR32 entered in
