What an amazing weekend this has been. My throat is still sore from breathing in three day's worth of tire smoke!! After covering the G1 Grand Prix on Friday and the Spring Drift Matsuri up in Ebisu Circuit, I have seen enough drifting to keep me satisfied for quite a while. By the early hours of Saturday morning all five main circuits at Ebisu

This year is promising to be the most exciting season in D1 yet, as more foreign drivers make the trek over to Japan to participate in the series. This past weekend, while I was covering the Mooneyes Street Car Nationals in Odaiba, D1 hit Autopolis for Round 2 of the 2010 championship where Suenaga took first spot with his soon to be retired RX-7. He

Only one week to go now before the 2010 D1 Grand Prix professional drift championship kicks off here in Japan. The cold winter months are almost over and we have one hell of a drift-oriented line-up for you all this year. D1 is promising to be as competitive as ever with a few drivers swapping over to new cars mid-season. I will travel across Japan

Luke of WeAreDrift just released this cool short video of a couple of backward entries at Nikko. As Luke says, if you are not entering corners backwards you're not trying hard enough! -Dino Dalle Carbonare

The other day while I was at the local Japanese bookstore I spotted a copy of the February, 2010 issue of Drift Tengoku magazine sitting on the shelf. I thought to myself, it's been a while since I've picked up a Doriten mag, and much to the dismay of the wife I added another magazine to the collection. After getting home and flipping through

2009 proved to be a very exciting year for D1. Youichi Imamura became the first driver to win two championships, his first back in 2003 behind the wheel of the Apexi RX-7. His Auto Produce Boss built S15, based on Yasuyuki Kazama's old 2005 championship winner car, allowed him to grab points consistently at each round allowing him to finish ahead

With 2010 fast approaching I can't help but wonder what the new year will bring. There will be tons of events waiting for us, close racing in various kinds of motorsport and new interesting cars that will help the automotive culture as a whole evolve. But as we begin another chapter I can't help but reminisce at what has helped shape the scene

I'm dedicating this second post on the Autumn Drift Matsuri to the first ever "G1-GP," an all-foreigner drift competition that was held at the Nishi (West) course on Sunday afternoon. With so many Aussies over for the event, Andy at Powervehicles.com came up with the idea of holding a little competition, especially seeing the high level

There is simply nothing like it, the Drift Matsuri is a truly unique event and this third and last one for 2009 has probably been my favorite. With the surrounding mountains around Ebisu Circuit exhibiting the most intense autumn colors drifters were as ever spoilt for choice with 8 tracks at their disposal for the whole weekend. I've selected my
