The roads of Southern California are filled with vintage cars of all types, from lowriders and hot rods, to restored muscle cars. A question that might come to mind is just where people find the parts to build these things. Well, a good number of them come from the car-specific swap meets, like the ones held at the Long Beach Veterans Stadium each month

Last weekend my parents were in Southern California visiting for a bit before heading off on a cruise ship to Mexico. My dad had been bugging me for a while that he wants to check out a Cars and Coffee event, so Saturday morning it was up before the sun and down to Irvine to show him SoCal car culture at it's best. The main purpose of the trip wasn't

For my next post from the Idlers Games at Tsukuba Circuit, I thought I'd take a break from the on-course action and share some of the images I shot while exploring the paddock. With all of the cars on hand, one could easily spend the whole day wandering about, taking in the fantastic machinery up close. As you can tell by the previous posts, the

I'm sure you remember the wild Mazda RX3 race car that Rod posted a few weeks ago. It's certainly one of the craziest RX3's in the planet, and we thought you might want to see some more photos it in action along with some other race cars at the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship event held in Jamaica last weekend. I have to admit that I

In case you haven't got your fix of Cal-Lookers, Volksrods, rat VW's, drag cars, and others - here's some more photos from last Sunday's Bug-In 34 at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana. I knew that the rusted/bare metal look was popular among aircooled cruisers and show cars, but I was surprised to find several drag cars at Bug-In that were

As I continue to go through my photos from last Sunday's JCCA New Year Meeting, I'm finding it quite difficult to choose what I want to post. There's just so much good stuff to choose from. Anyways, I'll open with this shot of a GC210 Japan Skyline parked alongside some mini-bikes. Looks like it could be ripped right from the pages of

Tokyo Auto Salon isn't really known a great place to see classic cars. If vintage is your goal, you'd be better off waiting a couple weeks and going to the JCCA New Year Meeting in Odaiba instead. Nonetheless, there are always a handful of modified vintage machines at TAS, and this year's offerings were pretty remarkable. This year's

By popular demand I decided to upload another gallery of photos from the JCCA Summer Meeting event at Tsukuba. I don't think any more commentary is needed from me. Just enjoy the sights of vintage machines under the hot summer sun. Now I suppose I need to start thinking about that shots that would make good desktops... JCCA -Mike Garrett

When I first game to Japan, one of the things that took me by surprise was the large number of original Mini Coopers that I would see driving around. Since seeing older Minis is pretty rare in the states, I was delighted to see them all over the place here. Then again the original Mini was sold in Japan for a LONG time. I guess when you think about

I can't believe it's June already, I guess time flies when you are working on Speedhunters. Here in Japan, June means endless rainy days and sticky, humid air. As I sit here watching the rain fall outside, I thought it was a good time to look back to January and the Japanese Classic Car Association New Year Meeting in Tokyo which was held under
