This year is promising to be the most exciting season in D1 yet, as more foreign drivers make the trek over to Japan to participate in the series. This past weekend, while I was covering the Mooneyes Street Car Nationals in Odaiba, D1 hit Autopolis for Round 2 of the 2010 championship where Suenaga took first spot with his soon to be retired RX-7. He

The new 500 we saw last week might be the retro car of the moment but let's not forget the real car it is "based" on. No sooner had I picked up the little Esseesse a car collector friend of mine dropped over my place with his original 500 F along Shimizu-san of T.C. Garage, one of the most well know Fiat 500 importers and tuners in Japan

Only one week to go now before the 2010 D1 Grand Prix professional drift championship kicks off here in Japan. The cold winter months are almost over and we have one hell of a drift-oriented line-up for you all this year. D1 is promising to be as competitive as ever with a few drivers swapping over to new cars mid-season. I will travel across Japan

Once again I was down at the Daikoku Parking Area last night for the final meeting of this week, celebrating what is without a doubt the most legendary car to come out of Japan, the Skyline. Even though the all-new R35 GT-R bears no Skyline badges whatsoever, to enthusiasts the link is still very much there. Being a Friday night the PA resembled a meeting

I've dropped by the Daikoku PA four times straight this week and last night, at what could have potentially been the best meet of this Skyline week, the weather turned for the worst and spoiled everything! The rain was coming down so strong at one point I was contemplating whether to bother going or not. But I'm glad I did as a small group of

So it was back at Daikoku last night for the R33 March 3rd meeting that turned out to be pretty good compared to the previous day's R32 gathering. The line-up of cars was great and I was happy to see that not only GT-Rs had shown up but also GTSs in both 2-door and 4-door variants. Cars kept arriving and taking off throughout the night giving a

I got a few requests to post up more coverage from the GT-R track day that I attended back in 2000 at Tsukuba Circuit. I think I'm not the only one that likes to check out pictures of the "old" days to see just how much styles and trends have changed. Seeing it's March 3rd I thought it would be appropriate to open this post with a

This final post dedicated to the imports of the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon will wrap up the coverage of what has been a pretty impressive show. I know people in the US are probably tired of seeing modified Camaros but they have just hit the dealers here in Japan so you will have to bear with me here as I personally think they look pretty wild! While the

I know a lot of you have been waiting to see some old-school rides from TAS so I've put together this gallery of the best vintage machinery I could find at the Makuhari Messe, starting off with a shot of the Rocky Auto Fairlady Z. Pretty mean no? Read on to find out more! Impulse were really rocking some top cars this year and next to the red LHD

Walking through the various halls of the Tokyo Auto Salon I really do wonder at times how many people are actually there to check out the cars, and not the women!! I always like to take these shots from behind the girls just to show the crowds that tend to gather around them. Most of them sport better equipment than most pros covering the event! I won't
