I was trawling through the excellent Mercedes Benz Press site when I stumbled across this crazy shot. Well why not share it? It shows Ellen Lohr somewhere on the Nordschleife back in June 1993. She is driving a AMG-Mercedes 190E Why was I trawling in the Mercedes site? Well pay attention and you will see shortly. John Brooks Image Courtesy of and Copyright

The Darling Buds of May have fled, so another 24 hour contest is upon us, but before we turn our attention to Le Mans, let's have a final few thoughts about the epic race held in Germany, the 37th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen. Once again Porsche triumphed and it was a fourth consequtive win for Manthey Racing. It was a hat trick of wins for the driver

I'm now back home in the UK, after experiencing some pretty tough shooting conditions at the Nurburgring 24Hs. Porsche has done it again! The Manthey 911 GT3 RSR of Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas and Marcel Tiemann just managed to hold off the Audi challenge to complete 155 laps of the 24 Hour circuit, 3,933.5 kilometres or 2,444 miles in

As I write this post the race is still continuing, so let's have a quick look at the first half of the run twice round the clock. 4.00pm yesterday, Dirk Adorf took full advantage of his team's pole position to outdrag the opposition in the Reader Automotive Ford GT. For the next 50 minutes he kept his orange and white rumbler in front of Marc

SpeedHunters has looked at the top ten qualifiers for the race but before the action starts in earnest it is I think appropriate to have a quick snapshot of some of the other cars that will be out on the track this weekend. The weather right now is beautiful, sunshine with a little breeze, almost perfect. Of course this being in the Eifel region, things

Is the plural form of Lexus, Lexi? Lexuses? Lexus'?.... Well what ever the word is, I do wish I could be in John Brooks' shoes right now and witness these cars at what is surely one of the greatest spectacles of automotive culture on the planet... the Nurburgring 24 hours.... (sigh....)... oh well... for the rest of us, we give you this desktop

Two days of pounding round the Nurburgring in conditions that range from the sublime to the ridiculous have determined the grid for the 2009 Nurburgring 24 Hours that is due to start at four in the afternoon local time, tomorrow Saturday 23rd May. According to my information there will be an impressive 170 cars to start. After all the talk of Audi R8

OK, OK, enough waiting already! I finally got to the Ring this afternoon and after attending to the various admin tasks had a quick run round the paddock. It did not take long to locate the Badass Boyz............Gazoo Racing and their Lexus LF-A........... Cute cartoons there may be on the car but the carbon fiber bodywork and the low profile makes

A question to you all. If you were going to run in the Nurburgring 24 Hours, held on a combination of the current Grand Prix track and the legendary Nordschleife what car would you pick? Porsche? BMW? Lexus? Even if you picked latter brand, the model that you definitely would not go for would be RX 400h SUV but back in 2005 that is exactly what happened
