I spotted this late model Mazda Axela (AKA Mazda3) as I was walking through the parking lot outside the JCCA show yesterday, marveling at all the cool cars and firing off photos about as fast I could. As you can see, the owner has applied the 1960's rotor-themed Mazda logo to the front fender. Just something I thought was a cool touch, especially
I'm not sure how many of our readers regularly follow the 24 Hours of Daytona... but it's happening this weekend in Florida, and our good friends from Mazdaspeed are campaigning four cars out there this weekend. Here's a photo of one of them. Good luck to all our Mazdaspeed friends! -Antonio Alvendia
I think SSR MarkII wheels are one of my favorite types of wheels ever... in the history of all wheels ever made. They certainly do a lot to make this NA6 Eunos Roadster look legit. Don't you think? Personally, I'd prefer a wider wheel up front though, for a bit more stretch and more lip. No doubt. Nicely done car. -Antonio Alvendia
Nogami Project, or "NOPRO" as it's better known, is one of Japan's biggest Roadster specialty shops. The NOPRO catalog includes everything from hardcore chassis components to GT style wide-body conversions. For a smaller company, NOPRO is extremely active in motorsport, and its biggest achievement has to be the 13B-powered Roadster
I wonder how many of you are old enough to remember Group B rallying and the Mazda RX-7 pictured above? Mazda Rally Team Europe, based in Belgium, first entered a RX-7 in the World Rally Championship in 1983. The car evolved over the following years and the rear wheel drive Group B RX-7 shown above, scored 3rd and 6th placed on the tough Acropolis Rally
I just love the way the rear end of this car looks! It's a 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport, lovingly being kept in mint condition by the head of Mazda's Director of Product and Corporate Communications. This photo was an old snapshot I took with my point-and-shoot Canon SD800 IS pocket camera when the car was sitting in the lobby of Mazda's R&D
I was reading through some of the comments on the Auto Salon kei car post, when I realized that we haven't posted anything about the Suzuki-built Autozam AZ-1 that was sold by Mazda during the early 1990's. It was basically a kei-sized version of an exotic car, complete with an MR engine layout and gullwing doors. With less than 5000 built,
I just got home not too long ago... I went to Shinsengumi, one of our preferred Southern Cali ramen restaurants with a small group of friends after my photo shoot today. The black FC3S in the photo is normally aspirated. It is a daily driven streetcar owned by my friend Justin Pawlak (aka JTP) of Formula D and All Star Bash fame. What I like about this
Looking through my external HD archives, I just came across an image of this Mazda RX3, basking in the sun at the past Japanese Classic Car Show in Irvine. I really like RX3s alot. They have a similar 2-door "coupe" bodystyle to the Toyota Corollas (TE27) of the 1970s, but they were fitted with small-but-powerful rotary engines instead of
I don't really consider myself to be a "purist" when it comes to cars, but I can see how hardcore Mazda enthusiasts would have a tough time with all the people swapping V8's and other piston engines into RX7's these days. Occasionally though, you'll find someone going against the current and dropping a rotary into a "traditional"
