I've hardly finished unpacking from my last Speedhunting trip, and already it's time to hop on a plane and head to Seattle for this weekend's Formula Drift event. Before I move on to cars sliding around on pavement though, I have a few more photos to share of cars sliding around off the pavement at the X Games last weekend. Ah yes, the X
Sunday was the final day of the X Games 15 in Los Angeles and for gearheads like us, the schedule saved the best for last. Following Saturday's Moto X comp, the course inside the Home Depot Center was leveled and new the rally course was constructed in its place. By Sunday morning, the course was complete and the teams entered the Home Depot Center
Another early morning and another road trip. Today it was south on Interstate 5 and through some surprisingly light LA traffic to the Home Depot Center in Carson for X Games 15 - more specifically the rally portion of the event. I just got back to the hotel after a day of shooting, so here's a few photos from the day's practice and qualifying
Earlier this month I posted a photo of Mazda 323 GTX rally car, but there's one more AWD Mazda I wanted to acknowledge before AWD month is over - the Mazdaspeed Atenza (AKA Mazda6). With a 2.3 direct injected turbo engine and AWD, the MS Atenza was a grown up alternative to the Evo and Impreza and a direct rival to the Subaru Legacy. Unfortunately
Head over to the Desktops section now to grab this high res image of the Original Runduce Evo X lurking in the paddock at Fuji Speedway. As always, you can choose from widescreen or standard versions. Enjoy! -Mike Garrett
Early in 2008 I was at Tsukuba Circuit when I saw this fully-tuned Nissan Pulsar GTI-R running at a track day. My memory has escaped me a bit, but I recall an SR20VE swap (or head conversion at least), a rear radiator being vented through the back windows, and of course the wide body conversion - which I'm assuming is one-off. Looking back, I really
I saw that a few of you guys wanted to see some more Evo Wagon material, so I headed to the treasure chest of car photos that is Minkara and found this shot of a tuned Evo IX Wagon running on the circuit in Japan. I don't think a station wagon has ever looked more evil... -Mike Garrett Minkara
Here's a fitting new car intro for AWD month - the Subaru Impreza STI Spec C, which has just gone on sale to the Japanese market. Like the Spec C's of the past, Subaru has equipped this limited production model with a number of changes that bring a little more edge to what's already a great driver's car. Starting off with the chassis
Sometimes it's amazing what you find in the comments section on this site. In response to my car feature the other day, Alex Roither from Austria posted some photos of his 1:10 scale RC replica of the Crawford Performance time attack car. He says it's still a work in progress, but it looks spot-on to me. Nice work, Alex! -Mike Garrett
This month has gone by fast hasn't it? I'm finding it hard to believe that we've got just over a week left before AWD month is going to be over. I've had the fortune of attending numerous track events here in the USA and in Japan, so I thought I'd post a gallery of some of the most memorable Evo and Impreza time attack cars I've
