Up until this year it was always the Japanese that were going overseas to expose the world to their drift culture, but 2009 looks like it will be the year when Japanese drifters and drift fans will finally get a taste of international drifting on their home turf. We already saw Vaughn Gittin Jr. bring his all-American V8-powered madness to Japan earlier

I remember hearing some requests for a high res desktop version of this photo of Kenji Takayama in the R-Magic FD3S at D1 Fuji last October, so here you go. Widescreen and standard versions available now in the Speedhunters Desktops section. Enjoy. -Mike Garrett

At the beginning of the month, I posted some photos of "grassroots" RX7 drift cars from Japan and the USA. Now, I'm going to continue with some shots pro-spec rotary drift cars at D1 events on both sides of the pacific. I wish I could say that I was around to shoot some of the cars from D1's "glory days" (Haruguchi FC anyone

Tokyo Auto Salon has always been one of the best places to get the scoop on what's going on the D1 Grand Prix, and this year there were a few noteworthy D1 cars making their debut at TAS. The car is driven by Kenji Takayama, it's not a real top contender, yet I must add. It has all the potential but it just doesn't get past the top 16. The car is running a T51R turbo from HKS which gives

There are a few new comers in the D1 this year. One of those, is the Seiken NKB sponsored Mazda RX7. Well it's not exactly new, because it has been seen in many disguises, it began as a Super Autobacs sponsored car and after that it was painted red an ran Benellop sponsorship. Now the car has been bought by Seiken NKB and is being campaigned in

I have seen a lot of different drift cars in the states and Japan, but nothing could prepare me for the craziness that is "Mad Mike" Whiddett's FD RX7. While Mad Mike normally can be seen competing in New Zealand's drift events, us Americans got the treat of seeing him in action last year during the D1 World All Star match at Irwindale
