It's gearing up to be an interesting couple of days up here in Ebisu Circuit with the G1 Gaijin Grand Prix tomorrow and then the Spring Drift Matsuri on the weekend. I spent most of the day chilling out with Andy and Emily from Powervehicles.com looking through their impressive selection of drift cars but the highlight of the day was without a doubt

The second event of the 2010 D1GP season was held over the weekend at Autopolis. Dino had another event, so he couldn't be there to shoot, but it was Masao Suenaga who took the victory after defeating Daigo Saito in the final. The event also included American drivers Sam Hubinette, Pat Mordaunt, and Mike Pollard, who drove JZZ30 Soarers borrowed

Some very sad news out of Japan today. Veteran D1 driver Atsushi Kuroi has passed away after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Kuroi was popular not just in Japan, but in all the countries where he drove. Anyone who's seen him drive knows the kind of talent this man had behind the wheel of his Nissan One-Via. Besides being known as a

At the end of TAS on friday I quickly headed to the Sun-eishobo stand, the publishers of Option magazine, as well as tons of other motoring related titles. I had to pick up a Hyper Rev book/catalogue for an Impreza-crazy friend back home in Italy and as I went to pay I noticed these two postcards on the counter. They are ads for a new magazine that

It's been a long time coming, but Mazda has finally announced that the Mazda2 (or the Demio as it's known in Japan) is USA-bound. According to Mazda, the 2 will go on sale stateside in late 2010 and will be priced below the Mazda3. The Demio's Euro-like styling always caught my eye on the streets of Japan, and I can't wait to see them

Today (Sept.15) in Japan, Mr. Yutaka Katayama - better known as "Mr.K" will be celebrating his 100th birthday. Nissan enthusiasts should immediately recognize the name, but if you don't, Mr. K is the man responsible for both bringing the Nissan brand to the United States, and for the creation of iconic Nissan/Datsun cars like the original

What better way is there to experience the broad variety of the Japanese car scene, than to be dropped right in the middle of it. This is precisely what Andy at Powervehicles is trying to do with Powertours . The idea is to offer the tour of a lifetime to those wanting a real taste of JDM life. Imagine coming to Japan and being able to drift at Tsukuba

Sometimes you just have to love Japanese car magazines and their never ending stream of concept renderings and "insider" information. The guys over at 7Tune.com have just picked up on a Best Car Magazine story that talks about the return of the Honda Beat, the pint-sized kei sports car that was an icon of the early '90s Japanese auto industry
